Piney and citrus hops with a little sweetmess from the malt in the nose. Deep brick red color with a small, tight tan head. Flavor is very toasty in the front with bread crust-like flavors from the malt. Balanced slightly to the bitter. A fairly straight forward and easy drinking amber. Maybe a little too long on the shelf, though.

Absolutely undrinkable. Horribly astringent, possible hint of a decent base destroyed by stewed vegetables and solvent. Drain pour. bwilley (20), Fullerton, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Bottle. An amber/brownish color. Not much in the way of taste. Fairly generic hoppiness with a citrus aftertaste. A faint taste of an earthy, almost dirt flavor, and not in a good way. Not recommended. cbkschubert (2023), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Light lacing. Aroma is lightly sweetened toasted caramel malt and floral hops. Flavor has a sharp bitterness to it. Almost metallic. Oxidation? Light to medium body. I would not recommend this beer. This is the second Blue Frog offering I’ve had. Not impressed so far. scrizzz (1335), kirkland, Washington, USA

Good deep malt flavor the hops behind where very tasty and aromatic. Liked the coloring and the finish. This was a very good beer. The beer was more like a Scottish then a red but it was tasty never less.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Got this 22oz bottle from Redmond’s in Ranelagh knowing that it was new to the shelves.
Pours a amber copper color with a 1.5 finger foamy white head. Sticky lacing stays throughout the drink as it goes down.
Smells of hops, biscuits, and a bit light fruit notes. Very inviting.
Tastes similar to the smell but with a bit more maltiness and bitterness in the hops. Some bready and yeasty flavors come through that are present as it finishes.
Well balanced, although not perfect, and a bit dry for me at the short end. NIce body though and filling.
Tastes more like a red ale than an amber ale too me based on previous ambers that I’ve tried. I will plan on trying other beers from this brewery before coming back to this one for now. Bradrcr (781), Renton, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 9, 2009 10/18/08 On draught at the brewpub, Fairfield, Ca. Aroma is caramel malt forward with a faint dusty note. Appearance is clear copper with a very well maintained white head and lacing. Flavor is bittersweet malt forward, and that blended hop note never comes out on its own, but is still sufficiently strong. Mouthfeel is moderate bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, fairly drinkable but quite low on mouthfeel.
