Commercial Description:
This monstrous version of our IPA has been overloaded with everything from the malt to the hops, even the tunes we rocked out to during the brew day were huge. this bottle conditioned Double IPA is abound with aromas of citrus hops, English toffee, and fresh baked biscuits. Carmel notes, hoppy lovin’ and slight yeastie notes jump off your tongue.
Enjoy this bottle conditioned beer in a large snifter slightly warmer than normal with the one who keeps you warm at night.
82 IBUs

Manages to taste watery and really strong at the same time. No aroma or head, really bitter. Some nice cherry taste comes out at the end, but not enough to save it.

Blue Frog took home a stack of awards in Pacific Brewing News best of a while back, including this beer sharing the best DIPA award with Pliny the Elder. That competition was rigged! Starts out with an odd smell, not just the hops, but the malt is weird too. Something odd is in this beer. Redeeming qualities include a tasty bubblegum hop flavor, but then its back to talking about its flaws again. Bad Bad Bad. Worst DIPA I tried at the Bistro’s DIPA fest. I like the pub, and Friday used to be dollar beer night there, but between rigging a best of contest, producing this substandard beverage, and charging like 9 bucks for the bottle in stores, AVOID THIS ONE.

a- clear orange hue, thin watery head that is mostly diminishing, slight lacing s- subtle aromas of citrus and pine resin, strong alcohol and biscuit malt presence but noticeable lack of hop aroma! t- initial sweet flavor with grainy malts, like other reviewers I could not detect any noticeable hop flavors, quick and stingy finish m- watery and thin, overly carbonated d- ugh, not very drinkable. a very unbalanced and poor quality beer that has no redeeming characteristics of its stated genre. its sad to say, but I could only finish half of this bomber before pouring out the rest. Oh well, more room for better beers!

Light golden color with a big head. Light citrus and malt aromas. Has a citrus flavor leaning towards the grapefruit side.

Not much hop aroma. A very airy bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Quite hoppy but mostly from bitterness. This is overpriced and not that great for a DIPA.

Thanks to kegbear for this brew. Corked and caged 750. Pours golden burnt orange with huge white head. Aroma is sweet malt, hops, citrus, fruit and booze. Flavor is sticky sweet malt, caramel, fruit, citrus, hops and a bit medicinal. Palate is sticky sweet and boozy. The more I drink it the more I dislike it. To sweet and astringent for my palate.

Mediocre DIPA with an unforgivable lack of good hop flavor. Good orange color and a strong head make for an attractive looking beer. Weak hop flavors in both aroma and flavor. Citrus and caramel are the two strongest flavors but nothing comes through with the necessary strength. A bit medicinal and yeasty with an almost stale taste despite proper storage and drinking it fairly fresh from the store. The astringent feel does not help things. I have had a number of DIPAs this season and Blue Frog has just not yet reached the big time with this one.

Big bottle, cork and cage. Smells great and looks beautiful. Honey orange color, and beautiful, dense creamy thick rich head. Can I go on a bit about this head? Started pinky tall and fluffy, grown to thumb thick and dense like GW. Sticks to my finger like merenge... the egg stuff, not the music. I dont want to drink it and mar this beauty. Smells fruity, citrussy, pineapple, and bitter. Definitely a beauty queen beer. Fantastic on the eyes, but lacking in substance, unfortunately. Not bad though, just not up to par with the appearance. Sweet on the light side of sweet. Not very hop filled. Aspirin flavors coming around the final turn. Its like it JUST missed somewhere. Close, but not quite.
