Mar 7, 2008 Hazy orange, moderate head with decent lacing, not so great retention. Aroma is grass, floral, citric with notes of caramel and lighter fruits. Aggressive bitterness, yet keeping the hop flavors (that I’m not wild about). Not special enough to be in the 0.4 percentile. Not great, but not this bad either.

Feb 26, 2008 Not bad but flavorless. Yeast smell on opening. Took a wine opener to get the cork off. At least I know the seal was good. More like a higher alcohol ESB, really. The hops were there, but not really much beyond the usual presence. This could be more hopped.

Feb 26, 2008 Well, it wasn’t horrible. I already had my horrible beer experience earlier in the day with Hurricane Kitty. This just wasn’t very good. An aroma caramel malts with enough astringency to stop a rhino, not-so-well-hidden alcohol and spicy hops. The flavor is decidedly not IIPA, but IPA maybe. It’s straight-forward malt punch is accentuated by the hop character, and it should be the other way around. I noticed too much malts for my liking, especially in an IIPA that was $9/bottle. Give me more hops please.

Feb 16, 2008 750 ml bottle-corked and caged. Poured with a big fluffy diminishing head. Nice fresh hop nose. Pleasant milder 2ipa with the alcohol very upfront. Light mouth and flavors recede rapidly. Not very complex. Not a bad beer but more like a strong IPA with an overt alcohol presence than a true 2IPA.

Feb 11, 2008 the cork broke in half! but some time later, i got it out: this is a sweeter, sugary IIPA with a sense of being incomplete, or misguided; it is alright, but it is not what it ought to be... a disappointment that I will not revisit yet surprisingly decent if it were worked into a different style of ale--hmm...

Feb 4, 2008 Damn difficult to remove cork. Pours a hazy amber with a medium head. Bready aroma with some hops. Malty taste with a little bitterness. Thin mouth. Where is the heavy robust taste I would expect from a IIPA?

Jan 30, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, orange-gold body with a thin, fizzy white head.
Smell: Aroma of biscuity malts, orangey citrus, and good ole fresh, clean soap.
Taste: Biscuit malts with a toffee-like sweetness. Citrusy, soapy hop flavors. Medium bitterness. Bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A very fine presentation with the corked ’n’ caged bottle, but what awaited me inside, well...
