Commercial Description:
This monstrous version of our IPA has been overloaded with everything from the malt to the hops, even the tunes we rocked out to during the brew day were huge. this bottle conditioned Double IPA is abound with aromas of citrus hops, English toffee, and fresh baked biscuits. Carmel notes, hoppy lovin’ and slight yeastie notes jump off your tongue.
Enjoy this bottle conditioned beer in a large snifter slightly warmer than normal with the one who keeps you warm at night.
82 IBUs

Bottle smuggled back from SD on my last trip out there. Faint green fruit aroma and some citrus. Clear orange color with a white head. For a double this is a little bland. Lacking sweetness, powerful hops, and full malt flavor. Some orange and lemon flavors with a slight alcoholic bite.

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Clear golden color with a thin tight layer of head. Strange apple juice aroma with some floral hops. Not a very strong or appealing aroma. Slightly citric flavor, some watered down hop flavors, but jumbled up and mixed. Unfocused and bland.

Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is caramel, toasted malts, and juicy citrus hops. Flavor is toasty, malty, and a bitter juicy citrus hop finish.

Bottle... O-Town Christmas Gathering ‘07... Clear golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. Grainy aroma with herbal hops and notes of honey and resin. Medium-bodied and creamy with feather-soft carbonation. Heavily sweet up front; boozy and medium bitter on the backside. Lengthy, bittersweet finish.... more sweet than bitter. Thanks go out to CaptainCougar for bringing the bottle down with him!

Courtesy CaptainCougar. Cloudy light amber pour with a thick head. Light fruity somewhat hoppy aroma. Big carbonation. Hoppy dry, like a hoppy dry sour apple ale. Very tasty, but I don’t see this being a DIPA.

Courtesy CaptainCougar. The body is a hazy, dark orange amber color. A small sheet of micro-foam film blankets the top, leaving behind sudsy flares of lacing. The aroma is of subdued orange and grapefruit hops and a touch of cream. The hop potency is not nearly what you would expect from a IIPA, though it is not an unpleasant aroma. The flavor confirms the lack of substantial hop character, as simple citrus and dry, grainy flavors the primary players here. Medium bodied. Some hop bitterness finally shows up in the finish, though it doesn’t make up for its absence up until this point. This is not a horrible beer, but it is certainly not worthy of the IIPA moniker, and it falls shy of average for even a regular IPA.
