Cork was impossible to twist off so I had to use a corkscrew to remove it. Orange amber pour with a smallish head. Boozy aroma with some citrus and earthy tones. Very sweet biscuit flavor, in fact this is too sweet for the style. Kind of a mess. No finish other than extreme sweetness. Whatever hops are here fade into nothingness. Some qualities that I would expect in paint thinner. Not that I’ve ever tasted paint thinner, but I think you get the picture.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Golden dark color with no head. Very nice citrus, sweet caramel and pear aroma. Not your typical IPA aroma. Flavor is not hoppy at all which is weird because its considered a double IPA. This was more malty than hoppy with a buttery biscuit and yeastie taste. This definitely is mis-catagorized. nickd717 (1374), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Bottle from BevMo. Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is apple, sweet malt, and mild floral hops. Flavor is apple cider, caramel malt, mild citrus hops, alcohol, and Velveeta cheese. Hops really don’t have much presence for what claims to be an 82 IBU "big DIPA." Palate medium. More like a cheese cider than a DIPA. Cheese cider is of course not a real style, and this beer is a good example of why it shouldn’t be. Overall, a fail. One of the least impressive DIPAs out there. mrhoppy (214), Santa Clara, California, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 9, 2009 Probably the hardest to remove cork I have ever encountered. Pours a deep, gold color with white head that thins pretty quickly. I love the color but wish the creamy white head held on for more than a few minutes. Slightly floral and mildly sweet nose. You almost have to get your nose wet to smell it, though. Taste is bland: alcohol, water, and some unbalanced hoppiness. Palate is ok but not what I expect from a DIPA. Really not good at all. I have another bottle aging and will try again next year to see if the flavors improve with a little age. blutt59 (2145), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2009 22, aroma is caramel and earth. Flavor is yeast, toffee, and no hops or bitterness. Not a great example of a DIPA, seemed more like a strong ale to me. CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Bottle sampled on 12/27/07: Pours a transparent orange bronze with a wispy-lacing white head. Has a fresh piny earthy green nose with some sugary caramel maltiness. Body starts sweet and resiny English hoppy with some grapefruity notes and sticky caramel toffee toward a warming earthy finish. Needs a little more balance and smoothness, but not that bad.
