Commercial Description:
"Belgian White Ale" (North America) / "North American Craft Beer" (UK)
Brewed with oats for creaminess and spiced with the perfect combination of orange peel and coriander.
An unfiltered wheat ale spiced in the Belgian tradition for an uncommonly smooth taste.
Gold medalist (white beer) at 1995 World Beer Championships, silver medalist (white beer) at 1996 and 1997 World Beer Championships. 171 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.4% abv.
Editor’s Note: Much of this beer’s production now comes from the Molson brewery in Toronto. A small portion of Denver draught production comes from the SandLot brewery. Still other product may continue to hail from Golden. 7/19/08.

I love the drinkability of Blue Moon. This wheaty wits are fantastic on a hot day, and Blue Moon tops my list of them. Hell, it’s inspired me to brew my own! Pours a cloudy golden with slight orange highlights. Aroma is definite coriander and orangey-citrus. Flavor is a smooth combo of bitter orange and crisp, refreshing wheat. The oat gives it a smooth, rounded body which I love. Awesome production beer!

Cloudy orange color, some citrus flavor and a little creamy and sweet. The kind of beer I would only drink when the other options are of the American macroo-brew variety.

Tap. Why the hell did the bartender put a piece of fruit in this? Maybe to add some flavor... Get that shit outta here. Poured hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma of nothing. Some citrus flavor. Probably from the orange slice. Lots of tools drinking this nowadays.

Thick, completely opaque pour soupy with bits. Heavily perfumed coriander and lemon aroma with background wheat. Coriander, lemon meringue and lemon puff flavour with a sweetener-like bitterness and n/a toasted cereal notes. No edge or sparkle but plenty of cardboard. Fake and forced like a French supermarket effort. Clumsy oat and coriander soup. Not at all surprised that Coors are behind it. Overpriced curiosity courtesy of Warwick Sainsbury’s.

Had this one on draft at a restaurant with limited selection. Smooth and drinkable. A little citrus there, color a cloudy orangish with white head. Not my favorite style but I’d have another.

355ml unfiltered bottle. Mild and attractive. This is a pleasantly drinkable confection. It lacks aggression and impact and perhaps a bit of character, and there is a tendency for the experience to be rather laid back - but this is a pleasant enough beer with gentle hints of orange and the modest warmth of a restrained pinch of spice. I wouldn’t rave about it, but I wouldn’t object to another one either.

Tap. Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Nose is citrusy, cinnamon, clove. Strong wheat taste with light amounts of spice. Overall, a decent beer, not the best belgian white, but refreshing nonetheless.

Bottle - from sampler pack. Light golden, very cloudy. Slight spicy aroma. So-so. Way underpronounced Belgian White flavor. Might be a good version for those used to drinking US mass market lagers, but if you’ve ever had a craftbrewed version, or one actually from Belgium this doesn’t come close.
