This brew is a little bland in taste, but aside from that has all the hallmarks of a decent abbey ale. Finishes a little sticky. The flavor is vague, alluding to apricot and toffee notes; You really have to reach for them however. Overall, fair to good. esjaygee (1531), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Light off hazy amber with a gargantuan tan head, slowly fading head leaving behind streaks of lace. Aroma of sugar, malt, fruit, grain and mild alcohol. Taste of grape, apple and mild sugar. Pretty bland and not very good. Interesting that they attempted to make an abbey dubbel style, but possibly the worst of this variety I have tried. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 28, 2008 (Bottle). Earthy malt aroma. Reddish amber body, off-white head. Bland somewhat sweet flavor, but hardly anything significant going on. Totally forgettable. GMUcrew7 (360), Mason, Ohio, USA

Flavor is also malt heavy, with sweet dried fruit. Medium body, really nothing special, but drinkable. Wegro (221), Fresno, California, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear dark brown, mahogany in fact, with a small, frothy, off-white to light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, bread, caramel), light to non-existent hops, average yeast (leaves, dough, cheese) with notes of dates, brown sugar, and wet paper sacks. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. Not a bad beer, and certainly warms the holiday mood. It is nice to see such a large brewer buck the norm and go for a less mainstream style. Palidor19 (1780), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Clear red orange color with a fizzy light tan head that doesn’t do much. Weak metallic malt some plums and candi sugar aroma. More metallic malt tastes then sweet candied fruitiness.
