Butter and corn aroma, pleasant if your in a movie theater. No spice smells for an aleged belgium sytle and no hops for a respectable premium ale. Wheat and lemon taste and sugury perhaps the belgium sugur but with the lack of any hops its too sweet and unbalanced. Palate is very pleasing, heavier than most to make you aware its a beer your drinking but not too thick to slow down the drinking process. In summation only decent, preferable if your only other choices are watery lagers at a local supermarket but for a seasonal showcase beer it falls short of impression. sinkr (241), Lusby, Maryland, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Pours a decent head of micro bubbles, gives off a dark amber color and has an aroma that I can’t put my finger on. That’s the good news; the taste is slightly astringent, the body is thin and there is not much of an aftertaste. I’ve yet to find a beer with ’winter’ in the name that I like and this one is no exception. NeoHippie2 (177), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Bottle. Aromas of winter spice - nutmeg, caramel, the like. Light malt flavor. Very thin mouthfeel, but not watery in taste. Satisfying, just like other Blue Moon seasonals. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 4, 2007 The Abbey Double pours a deep brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, caramel and sweet, touch of raisins and brown sugar. A light to medium bodied Belgian double. The malts are very sweet with lots of caramel, raisins and dark fruity. There are some earthy hops. It seems a little sweet without any malt to back it up. A touch thin and watery tasting, which may be due to some really lackluster carbonation than anything else in this beer. There is a odd metallic taste here as well, mostly noticeable in the finish. There is also some weird herbal flavor in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet, metallic and herbal. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Pours darkish copper with a medium lasting head and moderate carbonation. A nice looking appearance. Aroma and flavor is sort of a metallic malt that turns a little sweeter as it warms. Also light spice and touches of citrus. Not bad. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Dec 3, 2007 The label says "An abbey ale brewed with a hint of dark Belgian sugar". Oh there is sugar alright, but much more than a hint. This stuff is way too syrupy sweet with almost no added character to comment on. The monks would be calling down incantations invoking wrath if they ever tasted this! (...monks do that kind of shit, right?)
