Pumpkin beers shouldn’t just have pumpkin spices, they should be malty and fuller for the Fall season. It was nice for a Blue Moon, but nowhere near the the quality of Full Moon.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, rusty orange with a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished and barely left any lacing. The aroma was light to moderate caramel; very light grain; and slight pumpkin spices. The initial flavor, which was nice, was sweet; while the finish, which faded away, was rather sweet, ever so slightly sour and a little acidic with a short duration. There was caramel malt, not much pumpkin spices, nuts, toasted malts and slight hops. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy, but mostly watery with fairly fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. coldmeat23 (233), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Deep golden color with orange tints. Minimal head of foam with no retention. Minimal lacing.
Nice mellow smell of pumpkin, pie spices and some sweet maltiness.
Same spice notes as the nose. No real pumpkin presence. Slight malt flavor. Overall, pretty bland.
Thin and waterey. Not appealing. Minimal creaminess, almost as an afterthought.
This makes me sad. Blue Moon used to be one of my faves, before Coors bought them out, some years ago. Being well aware of this, I’ve stayed away from their products for awhile now. Since I was craving Pumpkin beers, I thought I’d give this another chance. This is a pale imitation of past glory.

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Pours a nice amber. Smells of spices. Thin off white head gone in seconds. Taste wasn’t very good. I did taste pumpkin, but spices get in the way. Codythegreat (141), Carrollton, Georgia, USA

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Clear, deep amber color with a small, off-white head. The head is gone in seconds.
Aroma: An off vegetal note is the first thing that greets me. It is followed by light malt notes, a hint of spice and nutmeg.
Flavor: Seems to follow the nose as that off vegetal note (cabbage? rotting grass?) comes back. Right behind it is some spice and an off bitterness. Throw in a generally thin mouthfeel and you have grade A crap.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light, thin mouthfeel and a medium-long, bitter finish.
Overall: Pretty dreadful. Not recommended. Skyview (4032), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-clear amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates clean. Aroma of multi-grain malt, a hint of spice and a touch of yeast. Taste is light bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some green vegetable and a hint of nutmeg. Finish is watery, crisp with a short lived spice aftertaste. Missing much of the pumpkin flavors I am used to by most other crafter breweries. bigguns22 (99), Maryland, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Nov 1, 2009 12oz bottle. Clear reddish amber pour with a thin off-white head. Banana yeasty aroma with some caramel and spice. Yeasty flavor with a bit of malt and spice. I am admittedly a pumpkin beer fan and this is the worst example I’ve had. They took their normal crappy beer and threw some spices in. Blech.
