ratman197 (2174), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering light amber head. Aromas of carmel, citrus and light straw. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel and citrus with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish. Typical Blue Moon product not bad just boring.
Optigon (533), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pours amber with a fine, moderate head. Aroma is hoppy with a moderate grain quality. Flavor is rather pleasantly hoppy. Nothing to go crazy over, but not a bad bear considering some of Blue Moon’s other "alternative" offerings. D_malone102 (57), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 7, 2008 I had this at the newly re-named "Blue Moon Brewery" which used to be the sandlot brewery inside Coors Field. It’s still a micro brewery for people who don’t really "get" craft beer, but it is the best beer at the ballpark. Pale Moon was allright, definately the best bet for a hop head at the ballpark. It was on the dark side for a pale ale, but earthy hops make a nice taste and aroma. The yeast isn’t estery, which I was pleased with, it had a fairly clean flavor profile, so much so that I may not have guessed that it was a Belgian Pale ale. I think it tasted more like an alt yeast, but not as bread-y tasting. agillespie81 (90), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 Deep amber color......fluffy head. Light malt aroma, with many sweet notes of caramel. Slightly sweet malt flavor continues in the front, though quickly overpowered by an extremely crisp mouthfeel. A few citrus and hop notes manage to sneak out in the back......finishes a little dry. This beer might actually have turned out well, if not for the intense carbonation. Tmoney99 (3414), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle from shigadeyo. Poured clear amber color with a large frothy off-white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Heavy grassy citrus aroma. Light to medium body. Moderate grassy sweet flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Very intersting just above average brew. Lofgrep (2), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA does not count Jul 2, 2008 Marginally better than what’s usually available at establishments without a beer focus, since it actually has some body and flavor. Every time I’ve had it on tap, the aroma is more or less covered up by the orange slice bartenders insist on including. Some banana aroma is present. Appearance is bright, hazy, maybe a little fizzy even. Flavor is overpowering, even cloyingly sweet, with over-the-top clove/banana/orange peel estery notes. Palate would be better if this were not so sweet. Overall, about what I’d expect from a "Belgian" being marketed by Coors.
