Sadly, my instincts, overly friendly after years of not drinking Blue Moon, were faulty. This is a misguided effort. I really don’t understand the point of a beer like this. It lacks the flavors to put it at the level of the mass produced craft beers (i.e. Sam Adams, etc.). But it also lacks the inexpensive quality of your BMC type beers. Personally, I’d rather have a Coors Light than this. I’d pay less, it wouldn’t taste much worse, and I’d not be disappointed by the misleading use of the word "Belgian" on the label. This is wholly inadequate. It’s more akin to that Budweiser "American Ale" than anything worthy of being called a Belgian beer.
The appearance, without question, is the highlight here, earning middle of hte road marks. It’s a decent copper color, with a respectable if quickly fading head. The nose is also reasonable...it hints at Belgian characteristics of yeast and spice. But this only serves to raise my expectations. Flavor...I’m still waiting for it to arrive. There’s just very little flavor, here. I’d call it mediocre if it danced on my palate long enough to leave an impression. As is, there’s little here deserving of comment. The highlight? I only bought a single. Thank the Lord. jezmez68 (334), Chesterton, Indiana, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle from BevMo! Dark amber to copper colored body. The head was slightly off white. The aroma was light orange peels and hazelnuts. A taste of light orange peel was mixed with a little bit of salty leather. There were also some light hints of mango in the finish. joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2009 This beer smells great coming out of the bottle, but found it a bit downhill from there. Appearance is very nice, actually looks like a good pale ale. The spiciness and fruitiness in the aroma is only negligible after the initial pour. Flavor is a bit unbalanced, sweet malt somewhat overpowers the citrusy flavor underneath, sweet smoothness of a belgian ale is still evident in the finish. Sregnar35 (732), Rotterdam, New York, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Copper body with a thin white head that had some lacing but not much. Aroma had nice biscuit notes but thats it, no real fruit notes or any other malt notes to it for that matter. Flavor had some fruit to it and some bread notes, it was very watered down. jjkuck10 (36), , Wisconsin, USA
