The aroma was light orange peels and hazelnuts. A taste of light orange peel was mixed with a little bit of salty leather. There were also some light hints of mango in the finish. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Copper color with a large head. Spot on Cascade hop aroma. Slightly grainy flavor. A bit of bitterness. Kind of looses the Cascade. Some caramel and floralness. Much better than I was anticipating. tarheels86 (799), Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. High carbonation and a fairly impressive pour with a one and a half finger white head that lingers and laces surprising well. This could be my favorite of the Blue Moon varieties but that is not saying too much. Most of the seasonal brews are horrible and overpriced. This actually has a good amount of floral hops and a neutral, dry aftertaste. Orange peel is definitely there but the hibiscus? bu11zeye (5615), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of orange peel, florals, grass, and toasted grain. Flavor of floral, grassy hops, caramel malt, and orange peel with a mild bitterness in the finish. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 22, 2008 8/22/2008: Pale Moon has a pale amber-golden color with a tight beige head that actually sticks around for quite some time. This beer is clean and clear with a moderate to generous amount of carbonation and some lacing on the inside of the glass. The aroma actually has some fresh floral hoppiness bundled with an underlying lightly toffee maltiness. The flavor has some biscuit malt and light toffee quality along with a dry finish that presents some floral and lightly citrusy Cascade hop flavors. The bitterness is mild to moderate, but that’s fine for a pale ale. As far as the palate goes, this beer has a medium-light body and an average mouthfeel. Not great, but better than expected for a macro-ish beer. I was not really satisfied with the first beer I had from the 6-pack. I have given two away, drank one from the bottle (decent), and then poured the final two into the special Samuel Adams Boston Lager pint glass which really seems to influence this beer nicely. I actually enjoy the Blue Moon Belgian White quite a bit during the Summer and on tap, but have been unimpressed by the other recent Blue Moon offerings. However, I think that Pale Moon is a good step in the right direction. This is a beer that I may actually drink if they bring the price down from $8.49+tax/6-pack to something more reasonable since I can get MUCH better beer for that price!

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Had this on tap. Darker red color with an off white head. Lots of carbonation. The aroma is nice and hoppy. Hoppy flavor with some biscuit malt and bit of a twang from the yeast. Medium body, sprite, with a dry finish. I thought this was a fairly good beer. I’d certainly drink it again. vikingguy (149), Chaska, Minnesota, USA

The flavor is hoppy as well, but not as much as you’d expect. It starts slightly sweet and has an earthy/hoppy finish. Pretty good but probably won’t buy again.
