Pours with nice color and good, large head. Aroma is pleasant though faint. And here the good news ends! Thin, watery beer that is lacking in flavor and palate, and overall character. Not a beer I will purchase again.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was faint sweet citrus with a hint of pepper. The flavor was sweet, tangy and had hints of key lime, cardboard and an underlying mustiness.

Bottle. Pleasing, clear dark gold body with a large, light tan head. The aroma is spicy with a little clove and some of that lime character. There is also some poppyseed muffin. Smells like a nice summer dessert. The taste is like one made lime poppyseed bread instead of lemon. There is also a little bit of pistachio nut in the finish. Different, but the lime dominates this watery and lifeless wheat beer and it’s not too pleasant.

Bottle. Pours a caramel amber, with a foamy white fluffy head, and creamy lacing. Orange zest aroma, lemon, spices, green apple. Flavors of malts, zest, and a slight spiciness. Smooth body, easy drinking, zesty finish. Not that bad. Another beer whose rating is affected by the "Coors" name attached to it.

Pours crystal clear copper with a long lasting head. Mild aromas of malt and light citrus. Flavors are interesting. There is a malt backbone, with some interesting citrus notes. I’m guessing this is the lime leaves I’m tasting here. Finish is dry with zero bitterness. More body in this beer than I was expecting. Not bad.

Draft pint at Hard Times Cafe. Light amber color with very little head. Sweet fruit aroma with a bit of citrus. Did not smell the lime that it touts. Very sweet taste. Not bitterness at all. Some lime in the taste with a very sticky mouthfeel. Even though it was sticky, it was very watery as well. There was also some metallic taste in the aftertaste. Tasted a bit stale.

On-tap, served in a shaker glass. L: Crystal clear, dull reddish copper with a pale beige head of frothy foam that actually leaves a little ringed lace sticking behind. A steady flow of micro bubbles going from the bottom of the glass to the top. If the color wasn’t so completely dull looking, I would have given it a better score. S: Pulverized cracker crumbs and toasted, almost burnt, grains, traces of soap, light hints of citrus juice and lime zest, I wouldn’t call the nose disappointing, just mildly bland. F&T: The carbonation is restrained, leading to a softly firm, moderately light feeling body with a slightly watery creaminess. Nothing offensive about the taste, but just like in the appearance, it is dull and boring. Wheat crackers and touches of toasted caramel, dash of powdery soap, soft notes of citrus and lime, the mildest of hop spiciness, everything turns a bit watery towards the finish. I had this with a spicy crawfish and catfish chowder at lunch today, the chowder was infinitely better than this Coors/Blue Moon seasonal release, but I can state this didn’t interfere with the spicy taste of the chowder, just like a regular Coors macro lager wouldn’t. I don’t know if I would call that a recommendation, but I feel this would go with spicy food, like a soup or curry, but with a nice thick cut steak or pork chop, no.

just like all of the other blue moon beers in a few respects - a bit too malty with little discernable hop character, and this normal sweetness just does not go very well with the kaffir lime. slightly metallic aftertaste and a funky ’metallic’/lime aroma
