Aroma is mostly hazelnut with some sweet malt and caramel notes. Flavor is more caramel sweetness, a bit too sweet. Some spice in the finish. Nephilium (557), Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 18, 2006 The aroma is one of heavy malted sweetness, with just a hint of spice in the background. For Appearance, I’m sorry, but anything using artificial coloring immediately gets dropped down to a one. If they wanted this to be amber, adding carmel color was not the way to do it. The flavor is a strong sweet flavor, with the hint of pecan in the background. It has a bit of carbonation in the mouthfeel, but not too much. Overall, it’s a middle of the road beer. One that you may want to grab if it’s a choice between this and the other standard macros, but not something I’m going to pick up again. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 17, 2006 From the bottle purchased at a Madison, WI liquor store. This was a very, very good beer. Nice toasted bread in the nose. I smelled sweet biscuits as well. The flavor is what really stood out to me. At first I thought it was caramel, but after a few more tastes I decided it was butterscotch. It’s not overpowering, but instead seemed like a really interesting and bold change of pace from your typical winter beers. I’m not a fan of the standard Blue Moon ale, but you can place their Winter Ale next to their Pumpkin Ale as my favorite Blue Moon beers. I would recommend this beer to anyone who doesn’t like standard beer or is eager to sample new and different flavors in beer. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Deep amber color out of the bottle with an off-white head that shrunk to a ring quickly. Odd artificial hazelnut aroma. This beer reminds me of Frangelico, the hazelnut liqueur, except I like Frangelico. Very sweet, with lots of vanilla, maple syrup, some spices and water. This finish gets dusty with nutmeg and cinnamon. Not very good winter seasonal. hogan873 (334), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Being a huge fan of Blue Moon Belgian White, I immediately grabbed this beer to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Pours a deep, clear brown. Nice aroma with hints of caramel and syrup. Not much to the palate, but a fine taste. Definitely some sweetness in the flavor...caramel, vanilla, and maybe syrup. Very smooth with no aftertaste. bierfueralle (6), USA does not count | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Bottle-Still trying to make up my mind about this beer. I enjoyed the BM pumpkin ale and wanted to like this too. Very caramel brown color, and a mixed caramel/vanilla aroma. Finishes with spices, but overall I was somewhat disappointed. 17thfloor (1507), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The head is amazingly full and froathy.. tastes like candy... but the palate of the beer is watery. The ’carmal’ flavor needs to be balanced a little more... tilldeath (87), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Good mouth feel little thickness, molasses smell, with a syupy taste. A very blunt flavor with maple syrup finish, best way to describe would be waffle crisp cereal with hint of beer.
