Jul 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black body with a dark tan head. Aroma is peach, sweet malt, citrus and starfruit. Flavor is peach pit, sweet malt , absence of oak or bourbon. Moderate warming and tons of fruit and wood. Very strange beer.

Jun 27, 2008 750ml bottle. thanks andrew for sharing!.... close to black pour with a semi-thin light brown head.... aroma was doughy with a further emphasis on fruitychocolate with a large yeast component. very little in the way of bourbon, if any at all.... flavors of sour dough, chocolate, yeast, and a hint of bourbon. mild carbonation with a pretty nice mouthfeel. this one reminded me of Black Ops for some reason and therefore is getting a similar review.

Jun 23, 2008 750ml bottle, Batch #2. thanks to dkachur for this. pours black with creamy tan head. aroma is loaded with vanilla, dry chocolate, dark fruits, and yeasty. flavor is a bit sour dough, soy, nuts, vanilla, dark fruits, yeasty, milk chocolate. silky mouth feel. alcohol is hidden. surprised how yeasty this is and fruity. more belgian in that way than an American IS. pretty good stuff but nothing great.

Appearance: Pours an inky black body with a small, short-lived, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Dark, roasty malts and all, but the bourbon dominates the aroma with sharp, intense notes of vanilla and wood.
Taste: Dark maltiness, tastes of caramel and chocolate, but a bit thinned out by the booze. More vanilla and oak. Moderate sweetness. There’s a definite hotness there, especially on the boozey finish.
Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: Nice start, but the bourbon starts squashing the other stout qualities and it could benefit from a greater heft of body. A little work, a bit of tweaking, and this could be phenomenal.

Appearance: black, frothy beige head, bits of lace,
Aroma: sweet oak and bourbon aroma over the top of dark chocolate with a vanilla sweetness,
Flavor: sweet chocolate and bourbon flavor, lots of oak bitterness, vanilla sweetness comes back in to try and balance the oak but falls short, roasted malt comes in for more bitterness,
Aroma: 8/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 13/20

Jun 6, 2008 batch #2, bottle. Full mouthfeel. Light body but coats the tongue like oil. Very smooth and very complex without being overwhelming. Excellent.

Jun 2, 2008 Corked bottle from dkachur, batch #2, thanks! Almost black and opague. Oak, bourbon and dark chocolate in teh not too abundant aroma. Chocolate, whisky, coffee and raisin in the somewhat alcoholic flavor. Well rounded and well balanced delicious imperial stout.

May 25, 2008 Batch #2 bottle: Pours a viscous opaque with a stringy-lacing dark tan head. Sweet dark caramel and chocolate nose has good complex vanilla and oaky bourbon character with great balance. Body starts fairly full and sweet with a nice sticky dark caramel flavor along with some slightly warming oaky bourbon. Pretty smooth and enjoyable. A nice barrel-aged imperial stout, but could be a little fuller.
