Commercial Description:
Dark Hollow blends the miracle of two crafts--brewing and distillation--to create a work greater than the sum of its parts. An Imperial Stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels still dripping with uncut whiskey. For 100 days the young beer patiently breathes in and out of the wood, gaining complexity, character, and serious attitude. This ale is always bottle conditioned and can be enjoyed immediately upon its release from the brewery...or five years later, when you dust off the last vintage bottle from your cellar to share with good company.

Batch 1 - blank cork - 9.6% ABV

Batch 2 - #2 on cork - 8.9% ABV

Batch 3 - #3 on cork - 10% ABV

Batch 4 - #4 on cork - 9.5% ABV

Batch 5 - #5 on cork - 10% ABV

Appearance: black, frothy beige head, bits of lace,
Aroma: sweet oak and bourbon aroma over the top of dark chocolate with a vanilla sweetness,
Flavor: sweet chocolate and bourbon flavor, lots of oak bitterness, vanilla sweetness comes back in to try and balance the oak but falls short, roasted malt comes in for more bitterness,

Corked bottle from dkachur, batch #2, thanks! Almost black and opague. Oak, bourbon and dark chocolate in teh not too abundant aroma. Chocolate, whisky, coffee and raisin in the somewhat alcoholic flavor. Well rounded and well balanced delicious imperial stout.

750ml bottle share courtesy for Josh. This on blew the cork out and gushed everywhere. Batch #5. Poured a dark and deep brown color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of bourbon, woodiess, vanilla, chocolate, and some roastiness. Tastes of roast, vanilla, chocolate, woodiness, and bourbon.

Batch #2 bottle: Pours a viscous opaque with a stringy-lacing dark tan head. Sweet dark caramel and chocolate nose has good complex vanilla and oaky bourbon character with great balance. Body starts fairly full and sweet with a nice sticky dark caramel flavor along with some slightly warming oaky bourbon. Pretty smooth and enjoyable. A nice barrel-aged imperial stout, but could be a little fuller.

Bottle. Pours a black body with a dark tan head. Aroma is peach, sweet malt, citrus and starfruit. Flavor is peach pit, sweet malt , absence of oak or bourbon. Moderate warming and tons of fruit and wood. Very strange beer.

[Batch 5] Dark brown / black color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, light bourbon, wood, roasted malts, smoke, and cocoa. Taste of roast, vanilla, wood, dark chocolate, and smoke with bourbony alcohol in the finish.

Bottle courtesy of dkachur. Thanks Dan! Batch #2. Corked and caged. Black bodied with a brown head. Nose is vanilla, wood, cocoa/powdered chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is malty, chocolaty, bourbon, soft wood and vanilla. Very creamy feel. Medium overall. Ends with more bourbon, vanilla, wood, chocolate and roasted malts. I need more of this!
