Numenor (818), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 23, 2008 Pure yellow body with no head. Bananna and gum aroma. Wheat body taste with some bananna and maybe light grape taste. Sweet and dry ending.
hopson (498), Williamsville, New York, USA Oct 6, 2008 draft- Banana flavors dominate, and are definitely there in the aroma- a nicely done brew that really does not distinguish itself too much from the rest in its class. Alraomon (63), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 29, 2008 A second take from a full bottle, having reviewed it initially from a very small serving:
A clean looking, light golden blonde. Head retains alright, not a lot of lacing.
Malts, cloves, sweetgrass. Some bubblegum aromas that float around quite nicely.
Bubblegum, clove, and a grassiness. Banana as it approaches the finish, but quite mild. A touch of bitterness towards the finish that seems a little out of place, but still a decent experience overall.
A little sticky, but not so much as to really damper the experience. As it gets warmer, this has a little more of a draw, and I can see myself having it a few times over the summer. It may start to seem a little bit thick after a few, though.
stefanje (590), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of dkachur. Pours a translucent copper color with a small white head. The aroma is classic wheat with a bit of biscuit. The flavor is light with banana, berries, and almonds. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long and sweet with a slight metallic astringency. Overall: A very tasty beer. Thanks Dan. Heathen (521), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Aug 12, 2008 THOUGHTS: My first kristallweizen. I tried it at the Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville, VA. and bought a bottle on the way out of town. It was slightly better on tap, but still nice in the bottle. I’m rating this from the bottle but giving it a score from the tap because they are so close. For the bottle the flavor was a 7 for the bottle and overall was 11. It was basically an ugly hefeweizen. The aroma wasn’t much different from one. But the flavor was a little different.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark yellow or golden with beautiful carbonation and a small, white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was light caramel malt, some yeast, banana, slight wheat and a touch o’ spice. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderate to heavily acidic; while the finish was moderately acidic and bitter with an average duration. There was wheat, slight caramel malt, some lemon and other citrus notes. On tap there was also a lot of banana. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy then dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic, light astringent and light dry finish. brigg (139), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 6, 2008 (bottle) A clear gold body with a small, fluffy white head. Full aroma has lots of banana, some spice, sweet malt. Medium bodied, creamy, and slight fizziness.
