Bottle courtesy of dkachur. Thanks Dan! Pours clear gold. Small white head. Nose is strong banana, wheat and some bubblegum. Taste is more wheat notes, banana, and bubblegum/candy. Body is light-medium and has a soft tingly carbonation. Ends with more wheat, soft lemon, bubblegum and banana. Soft bitterness during the end as well. Thirst quenching!

12 oz bottle courtesy of dkachur. Pours a translucent copper color with a small white head. The aroma is classic wheat with a bit of biscuit. The flavor is light with banana, berries, and almonds. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long and sweet with a slight metallic astringency. Overall: A very tasty beer. Thanks Dan.

THOUGHTS: My first kristallweizen. I tried it at the Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville, VA. and bought a bottle on the way out of town. It was slightly better on tap, but still nice in the bottle. I’m rating this from the bottle but giving it a score from the tap because they are so close. For the bottle the flavor was a 7 for the bottle and overall was 11. It was basically an ugly hefeweizen. The aroma wasn’t much different from one. But the flavor was a little different. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark yellow or golden with beautiful carbonation and a small, white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was light caramel malt, some yeast, banana, slight wheat and a touch o’ spice. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderate to heavily acidic; while the finish was moderately acidic and bitter with an average duration. There was wheat, slight caramel malt, some lemon and other citrus notes. On tap there was also a lot of banana. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy then dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic, light astringent and light dry finish.

Draft sample at the brewery. Pale gold, clear, with white head. Aromas of straw, lemon, wheat, and some faint banana/bubblegum. Flavor is slightly tart lemon and wheat, lively carbonation, with a clean, drying finish. Tasty stuff, much better than many American takes on the wheat beers.

Off taps at Capital Ale House. Nice spicey hefe aroma. Clear yellow golden with small fine white head. Orange citrus hop flavovs with some bannana and spicey yeast notes. Fairly sweet malty wheat backbone. Medium body with mostly dry finish with some residual yeast notes.
