Tap Capital Ale House Midlothian 08/29/2008.
Lemmon citrus and pale wheat notes in nose. Light straw with small frothy fine white head. Big grassy floral hop flavor with touch of supporting wheat.
Medium body with surprisingly full mouthfeel. Finish is fairly bitter. Excellent beer. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2008 From a growler sample courtesy of maniac. Dirty blonde, slight head. Aroam was spicy hops, clove, cumin, for some reason it almost reminded me of a pizza. Flavor matched, with a bit of sweetness on the finish, good for balancing out the spicy elements here. Complex, I feel like they just missed really hitting a home run here. Well struck single to deep left. dkachur (2313), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Poured into a snifter. Vibrant orange color with a thin white head. The aroma is dominated by floral hop notes along with some caramel and citrus fruitiness. Taste is strong bitter hops with notes of yeast, banana, butterscotch, peach, pineapple and alcohol. Medium bodied and very complex. alexanderj (2204), Chino Hills, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 On tap at Blue Mountain about a week ago; poured a hazy yellow/gold; white head. Aroma of banana and citrus predominantly; some yeasty and belgian sugar as well. Flavor was again dominated by the wheat flavors; however definitely some hoppy/citrus elements. Liked the palate a bit more than their kristalweizen; a bit fuller and slightly creamy. One of the more enjoyable beers that I had during my visit. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Aug 12, 2008 Growler. Hazy gold color with white head. Aromas of lemon, yeast, grass, light sugary malt, and the suggestion of some sour funkiness, along with some classic IPA hop aromas-- pine, orange and grapefruit citrus, earth. The combination of the tangy wheat and yeast aromas with the zesty American hops is interesting and inviting. Flavors of all of the above, sort of a heavyweight hefe with a big dose of IPA towards the end. The palate is really full and creamy, with a long finish of hops. This is a really interesting mix of styles and flavors that comes across as a unified, distinct beer, and certainly the highlight for me thus far from Blue Mountain.
