Blue Point Hoptical Illusion

Courtesy of tpd975. I love the name of this beer. Very cool. It pours clear gold with white head. The aroma is sweet with mild grapefruit, tangelo and orange peel. The taste is much the same with a pulse of sweet orange juice mixed with grapefruit juice. The grapefruit builds and bitters as the taste progresses. The bitterness seems to peak at the finish and leaves a tasty sensation behind. Feels a bit on the watery side from time to time.

Bottle. Pours a light orange with a small white head. Aroma of pine bitterness and citrus. Flavor dominated by sharp pine bitterness which bites at the palate. Some hop oils and a barely there malt backbone. This is a decent IPA.

Bottle. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, ever so slight malt. Flavor continues to lean very much toward the hops with JUST enough malt to keep it from lacking all body and character. Hangs on the edge of a 3+, but does firmly establish itself there by glass’s end.

Bottle. Pours amber with a small head. Aroma is floral hops - some citrus. Take is a nice cascade. Not bad.

Pours a clear amber with a small white froth, not very rich looking. Aroma is sweet and fruity, not a whole lot of hops, lots of crystal malt though. Light flavors for an IPA, crystal malt, light hopes, some pine and soap, a bid of citrus. Light grapefruit finish. Weak body, light carbonation and kinda watery. Not terrible, but definitely not clean, some off flavors.

Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops with sweet malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Good.

Bottle courtesy of tpd975 Pours cloudy golden with thin white head. Smell was herbal, somehow reminded me of tarragon and hoppy. Taste was very hopy and sweet, with a little hint of caramel malt and this herbal/floral presence. Very drinkable and a really nice beer.

On tap. Nice copper color, with little head served. Floral, pined hops on the nose with a decent sugared malty presence. Smell was a little restrained. Well balanced body with a strong, but quickly dissipating toasted caramel presence, graduating into a lihgt watery mouthfeel touched with a lingering hop backbone.
