JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 20, 2008 On tap at some joint in Brooklyn. I’ve had a lot of good IPAs lately, and this is certainly a fine example of the style. It’s hopped up nicely, with a very wet and citrusy character that reminds me of Two Hearted. It’s not quite as balanced or as rich, but this is fine, drinkable stuff. hoppopotamus (182), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Updated: Jan 25, 2009Orange/amber with a small white head, leaves lacing. Lots of fine sediment. Aroma is strong fruity hops, but the flavor lacks the full hop flavor that I expected, the bitterness is there but could have used more. A fine IPA, but not the best. Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jan 19, 2008 Updated: Sep 12, 2009This was tasted at the Blue Ridge Bevaerage Distributor in Salem , VA. It has a great aroma of citrus. The 6.2% alcohol is well balanced with the hops and malts. The color was golden with a full head. This is a solid IPA worth seeking out. The smooth finish with some bitterness just the way I like my IPA. IPAs are what beer drinking is designed for. another on 9/12/09 the alcohol is higher 6.8 %. The golden clear color and frothy white head are very inviting. Ghett0Gary (23), Belmar, New Jersey, USA Jan 19, 2008 Banana smell to this IPA, nice head. Different style of IPA with a slight fruit taste. Not so strong of a flavor compared to typical IPAs. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 17, 2008 Bottle. Thanks, goldtwins! Pours hazy apricot with a thin white head that leaves small, concentric rings of lace. Peachy aroma, with sweet citrus and pine backing it up. Basically, the ’Pavlov’s dog’ aroma for me. Medium-light body, bordering on watery, with fairly active carbonation. The taste starts sweet, just a little toffee along with the fruit. As I expected, the pine catches up with the other flavors in the crisp finish. Sanchex (223), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 10, 2008 The first whiff knocked me off my feet. Intense resin/pine aroma... by far my favorite. Flavor is not so great but still pretty good. More piney hops with a little orangey citrus notes. This may sound weird but I say it as a good thing... it tastes a little fishy. Very fresh cod to be exact. Nicely balanced by the sweetness of the malt. Cheers! gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Jan 6, 2008 On tap at Dukes in NYC. Hoppy and drinkable but nothing special. Was good with some chips. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2008 Dark golden to amber in color. Taller - turning rocky, light beige head. Sweet grapefruit aromas dominate. Hints of cedar and pale malt also in the scents. Sharp flavors from the start, with bitter pine and grapefruit. The middle seems to mellow a bit with a smoother more balanced attach on the palate. Liquid is a bit lifeless. Finish has a mild grapefruit zest kick and the linger is just a general bitter pill.
