Blue Point Hoptical Illusion

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, mediumsized beige creamy head. Aroma is honey, flowery hops. Flavour is the same with the hops being really big. Quite typical IPA still.

Golden colour. Creamy head. Aroma is very hoppy with notes of citrus (oranges). Flavour is more hops and oranges. Very nice bitterness.

12-oz. Thanks, FranksnBeans! Pours rubied amber with a thin white film after a bit of suds splash around atop for a second. Modest fruity nose, very subdued. Medium body, soft carb. Restrained flavors throughout--light orange pith and some caramelish business on the mid-palate, and a little resiny finish. Very restrained...in San Diego this would be an APA.

Pours average amber with a nice white head and lacing. Aroma is strong candied grapefruit; very sweet. Flavor is a mix of grapefruit, hops, and Sweet-N-Low. Average mouthfeel. Good but not great. A very approachable IPA; I’d have this one at BBQs.

Bottle. This is about as typical as it gets for a decent IPA. Strong citrusy hop bite with a bit of maltiness to balance. This is a solid IPA, but needs something a little extra to stand out.

Bottle. Citrus / grapefruity / grassy hops and a little bit of malt in the aroma. The malt flavor in this one is a little bready followed by the grassy citrus hop aftertaste. Good but not quite there.

12 oz bottle. Another of my go-to local IPAs. Good overall balance, nice choice of hops, elegantly trippy label...oh, and it’s unfiltered! This is an East Coast stalwart IPA right up there with Brooklyn, Smuttynose, DFH, and Clipper City’s best. I’m surprised it doesn’t rate higher.
