Borrrris (99), LINDENHURST, New York, USA Jan 27, 2007 BOTTLE: You want hops? We got hops? Lotsa hops. Tasty, not too bitter hops at that. Not my most appreciated style, so I’ll keep my less that expert observations to a minimum. Grapefruit flavor nicely subdued when icy cold becomes annoyingly dominant to me as it warms, but I suspect that hops lovers will find this a pretty good one of the style. BUY AGAIN? Probably not skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 21, 2007 12 oz bottle into a Tulip glass, thanks to Kirk for picking this up in NJ! Pours a light golden orange color that is moderately hazy. A thin foamed white head sits up to, retaining mostly to the sides of the glass. Quite strange, there really isn’t much of an aroma on this guy, but what is there is lightly spiced and hoppy with no malt present. The flavor begins a bit watery actually (which comes to mind on the nose) and swiftly moves into a citrusy hop note that is fairly one dimensional. The taste ends on a nice and light, refreshing bitter pine hop note. I don’t taste much malt in this beer whatsoever, it’s interesting. Overall it’s well done, but very simple and one dimensional. surf1284 (91), USA Jan 21, 2007 Pours orange with a small retaining head. Has a nice hoppy finish, with a citrusy flavor to it. Just a hint of malt. lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA Jan 19, 2007 Sampled at D’s. Golden yellow body with small foamy white head. Fairly bland aroma of citrus hops. Flavor has a little more character with some sweet caramel malt with the crisp citrus. A little bit of a soapiness. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jan 18, 2007 Pours a pale orange with a thin but persistent ivory head. Some soapy looking lacing. Smell is somewhat citrusy but more herbal in the nose. No malt aromas evident.
Taste is dominated by the herbal hops. Bitter, herbal hops with just a hint of orange rind. Hops take the finish as well and the resinous hops stick to your tongue and your teeth. Not subtle, not complicated but pretty tasty with a unique blend of hops that balance bitter and sweet. Worth a look. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 12, 2007 Bottle, Pours a slightly hazy amber/orange with a medium head. Not much retention, good lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and pine hops, mostly, which just a touch of malt sweetness. I’d almost rate this as a double IPA. Right on the edge.
Medium body. Pleasantly bitter finish. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Jan 10, 2007 From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orangish amber color with a nice sustaining head of creamy white. Light, cleanly floral hop aromas of orange zest and clover blend nicely with some soft caramel malts. Light to medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Well attenuated, dry texture with a soft biscuity malt beginning. The palate fades to some light citrusy hop characters and finishes with a grassy smack. Nice serving of hop flavors without a lot of bitterness. Thanks, Dan! retailgiant (9), USA does not count Jan 8, 2007 Very sharp, tangy hopped beer. Definitely worth a try. Available at the Blue Monkey in Catasauqua PA.
