12oz bottle from total wine in norfolk. pours a clear, golden orange with a thin, white head and solid lacing. aroma is very nice with sweet, floral hop notes, grapefruit, a touch of pine, and light, sweet yeasty notes. flavor is quite good with grapefruit and orange hop notes, a touch of pine, and the slightest balance of caramel malts. palate is smooth, medium bodied, and nicely carbonated. overall, a solid drinking IPA.

not one of my favorite ipas - has some toastiness in it along with a bit of mustiness. similar to hop devil, but not as crisp and defined. flavors in hoptical illusion seem - at least on some kegs - to be muddy.

Bottle at The Ginger Man, NYC. Light orange color with white head. Mild citrus and hops in the aroma. Gently carbonated, dry, and light bodied. A touch of citrus in the flavor and a moderate hop prescence throughout. At best an average IPA.

Pours slightly hazy golden color. Aroma of citrus hoppiness and sweet malts that ends up smelling a bit like blueberry. Nice boldness in the first sip, not quite bitter, but it has a nice hoppy essence. Nice floral hop flavor balanced with slight malty finish. I like the amount of hoppy flavor in this one, but the hops taste a bit raw at times. I’m happy I tried this one.

Bottle. Amber color with thin head dissolving into a thin film. Not much on the aroma, I really didn’t smell much at all. Nice hoppy, citrus flavor. Crisp and a dry bitterness throughout. I wish I had another bottle to taste again, this was an interesting beer. Good one for hop lovers.

Bottle. Orangish color - a bit cloudy. Quite hoppy. Somewhat malty, very well blended. Fairly strong.

Pours a rather nice golden hue with a decently long lasting white head and very active carbonation in my Sam Adams Sensity Glass. Smells of muted grapefruit and pine. Good but weak. Tastes very good! Same notes as smell which in and of itself wouldn’t qualify this as any more than average but something here is done right that I can’t quote put my finger on. Mouth is solid at a medium body with medium carbonation. A very good IPA and one I’d try again.
