| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Draft at Mad Mex (Monroeville). Pours a pale amber, small beige head. Aroma is slightly hoppy and sweet. Flavor is the same but more subdued. A smooth, decent beer, but not hoppy enough for me. arventresca (341), Greenville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Updated: Apr 4, 2008Pours a transparent dark with a creamy head. The aroma and taste are very hoppy as the name would imply, but if you aren’t familiar with hops in beers you might get overwhelmed easily.
Re-rate: Had this on cask at the brewery. I don’t think it counts as the burbon barrel version. Extremely smooth on cask. Some of the edgy bitterness has been taken off making it less hoppy, but it is more than compensated by the increased creaminess of the beer as a whole. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Smells strongly of sour zesty hops. Taste is similar to smell, strong hops flavor, not much else. A little watery, almost no detectable malts. Not bad, very light and refreshing. BiddleBrau (329), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2008 pours lighter amber with dense white head. Nice pine, slightly citrus hop aroma. Hops bite from the very first sip, carbonation enhances the bitterness. Malt is in the background but it’s all about the hops here.. As the beer warms, there is a bit more balance. Not overly bitter. Palate is not so much as full as it is prickley.
