Relatively-light & citrusy (but not too much so), with lasting bitterness. Reminiscent (if less "over-the-top") than favorite East Coast IPAs like Smuttynose and Southern Tier.
Another poster remarked that this brew is very malty for an IPA. I agree, and think that the balance of this brew is part of its appeal. Very pleasing in all areas, really; an IPA that you might enjoy year ’round. Very glad to have stumbled upon this!

Sweet aroma, hints of citrus. Sweet citrus flavor, good hop-ness. Good bitter finish, no illusion here! Ughsmash (4099), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Bottled, thanks to somebody out east! Poured medium golden/orange with a bunch of floaties from the last couple ounces. The aroma picked up a nice assortment of lighter and citrus fruits above a caramel base.. took on an enjoyable juicy complexion as it warmed up a bit. Lower carbonation helped the juicy pear, grapefruit meat, and caramel maltage glide slowly over the palate.. building pear, pine, and grassy bitterness also played well in here.. sweet, yet adequately bitter finish stuck around for quite a while. Medium-bodied, and again, the lower carbonation worked well.. long, rewarding finish. Excellent beer! DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Spicy, piney hop aroma quickly evident. Clean malt flavor and feel with citrus and piney hop flavors that last into the bitter finish. Obviously dry hopped. Quite enjoyable and thirst quenching. thornecb (1819), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
