franksnbeans (265), Rockville, Maryland, USA Dec 29, 2007 Pours very golden with some amber. Could be mistaken as a Budweiser in my mug. Little head that dies quick. Sticky lacing on the glass. Smells of pine, cirtrus, orange and hops. Taste isnt too complex but very nice and finishes hoppy and dry. Feels a tad thin and undercarbonated. Overall a tasty beer and extremely drinkable, especially on a hot day.
yesyouam (345), Fairport, New York, USA Aug 17, 2008 Sampled at the Flour City Brewers’ Fest 2008. Blue Point Hoptical Illusion is a slightly sparkling golden ale with a dense white head that exhibits good retention. The aroma is spicy, fruity and grassy. It is medium bodied and smooth with a crisp finish. The flavor balance is good. It tastes a bit grainy and maybe slightly phebolic. Not bad. brew4fun (116), West Virginia, USA Aug 17, 2008 Draft. Pours bright golden with white fluffy head. Big grapefruit aroma. Taste of pale malt overcome by the generous hop additions. Surprisingly, not much of a bitterness bite, just big hop flavor. Body light, very easy drinking. Ron (737), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 2008 Flour City Brew fest. I’m not a big IPA fan, but I liked this one. A fruity aroma was noticeable. Enjoyable fruit flavor with a light hoppy ending. jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours gold with a generous white head. Smells of pine, pepper, some floral hints. Tastes dry and grassy with some nice spicy hints. Well balanced and enjoyable. CelticBrew (450), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Aug 14, 2008 Pours a slight hazy golden straw color from 12 oz bottle, forming good size bubbley foam. Aroma of light floral hops, with a bit of citrus. Flavour of bitter malts dominate. Kinda got that English IPA thing going. OK beer, but not really an American style IPA, I think.
