Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Oatmeal Stout is a rich, deeply malted extravaganza of a beer. The Oatmeal Stout is a dark beer drinker's dream come true. The Oatmeal Stout is made from Pale, Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Malts. In addition Flaked Oats are added to the mix and the outcome is an uncommonly silky brew. This legendary dark beer is full flavored and rich tasting. A romantically delicious microbrew to share with someone special.

On tap at Blue Point’s tasting room. Pours black with a shortly lived tan head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt with perhaps just a hint of coffee in the nose as well. The flavor is mostly tobacco along with some roasted malt. Very mild bitterness at the finish and somewhat dry. I’m really not seeing any influence from the addition of the oats; this beer just has no oomph and lacks the silkiness on the palate. Below average stout.

Probably the best oatmeal stout I ever had -- a little thick but that grew on me. The oatmeal stood out as the discernible element in the stout, which is uncommon from the varieties I’ve tried. I’ve had a lot of Blue Point beers, especially on tap, but this 1/2 gallon jug I bought was made to order delicious. I had a few glasses -- then it sat in my fridge for a few days -- and I had a few more. It maintained the same carbonation and it went great with the super bowl taco dip.

Draft @ Monster B’s in Stamford, CT. Black with thin tan head. Sweet brown sugar oatmeal aroma with a less sweet flavor. Oatmeal is there, but the palate is some what muddled. Good beer though.

draft poured a black color with a thin head that fell right away. aroma has chocolate malt, light roast, and coffee. flavor has some burnt malt thing, dark chocolate, and sweetness. the oats thicken this up a bit and add some texture. low end carbonation makes this a bit sticky.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a black color typical of a stout with good chocolate/malty aroma. Taste is also very malty and pleasant but not very complex. Palate was dry. Expected a little more but overall a pretty good beer.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma weak, sweet roasted malt. Flavor some coffee, more of that weak, sweet roasted malt. Pretty weak palate. Forgettable.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a hardly there light tan head. Aroma is quite sweet, of sweet roasted malt. Flavor of the same sweet roasted malt, weak palate. Tastes like your typical mediocre stout. Meh.
