Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Oatmeal Stout is a rich, deeply malted extravaganza of a beer. The Oatmeal Stout is a dark beer drinker's dream come true. The Oatmeal Stout is made from Pale, Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Malts. In addition Flaked Oats are added to the mix and the outcome is an uncommonly silky brew. This legendary dark beer is full flavored and rich tasting. A romantically delicious microbrew to share with someone special.

Pours nice and dark with nice stout aroma. Palate is unremarkable and thin with an off-balanced sweetness for taste. Average beer to Very Good Overall. Not impressive.

On tap at the Bocktown bar & grill in Robinson Twp. Pours very dark brown/black, with a slight reddish glow, in my glass. Aroma is a little yeasty and pleasant. Initially when it hits your tongue it seems a bit bitter but then it fades to a nice mellow creamyness that is smooth on your tongue. Roasty mellow tones and its still creamy. Finish is enjoyable and not too bitter. It sticks with you for a while and may be a tad weak. Overall a good sweet stout. Of the 8 I tried on tap, this was the best.

Dark brown with a thick brown head. Good creaminess and retention. Smells like roasted barley, chocolate, coffee and espresso. Taste was very roasty and did not have a soy quality like some Oatmeal Stouts. Palate was roasty and had a lot of presense for 4.5%. Very good stab at the style.

nice frothy head in the plastic sample cup at the brewery. Brown medium head that quickly disappears leaving barely any lacing. Very roasty coffee all around. Taste has a strong sweetness aspect as well. Aftertaste is coffee without any bitterness. Good stuff.

Nice aroma of milk choclately malts. The flavor, however was thin & burnt, coffeeish and has a light bitterness, almost soysuace like. Not too impressed, simple for a stout.

Roasty, nutty aroma. Very flat looking pour, with zero head. Palate is similar: flat. A good bit of oat flavor, for sure, though its almost dominant and blocks out other desirable stout flavors.
