Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Oatmeal Stout is a rich, deeply malted extravaganza of a beer. The Oatmeal Stout is a dark beer drinker's dream come true. The Oatmeal Stout is made from Pale, Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Malts. In addition Flaked Oats are added to the mix and the outcome is an uncommonly silky brew. This legendary dark beer is full flavored and rich tasting. A romantically delicious microbrew to share with someone special.

Had it at the Brewery. Pours like a stout should, dark with a nice head. Has a roasted coffee flavor to it. I found it hard to find the chocolate taste. Not a beer to have on a full stomach.

(cask conditioned @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thick and lasting tan head. Light and sweet aroma of chocolate, malts and a touch of oatmeal. The taste is very smooth and creamy with flavors of chocolate, roasted coffee malts and a sweet and smooth oatmeal followup. The finish is creamy and sweet.

Pours as a good stout should...brown body and tan head. Roasted coffee and malts with a nice oatmeal balance. A good session beer.

Aroma of roast coffee, dark chocolate, dark brown, small toffee head, with some pretty lace. Flavour of coffee, dark chocolate, and almonds. Well balanced, full bodied, nicely bitter. Great!

Heavy & filling and I don’t mean in a bad way. Caution don’t sample after a big comfort food meal. Deep, dark, in hue & taste with lotsa malt content. Smooth, a trifling sweeter yet also well done in terms of addressing drinkability with richness. Another great job by BPB!

gowler from brewery 10/27/05. Pours a chocolate brown color with a creamy brown medium head. Head doesn’t last. Smells of chocolate malts and a secent of cherry at the end. Very creamy finish roast malt flavor. Slightly bitter throughout. Full of flavor and very fulfilling from beginning to end. Although it is low in alcohol I felt like I could taste a strong alcohol flavor. Great beer. Best Oatmeal Stout/Sweet Stout i’ve had yet.

Tap at brewery. Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma and flavor of roasted malt, black cofee, and light notes of chocolate. Mouthfeel is more crisp and less smooth than I would expect from oatmeal.

Cask at Pizza Plant on Transit Rd., Williamsville. Pours a very dark brown/black with an average size lasting tan head. For a stout on cask it looks perfect. Very nice aroma of cocoa, hops, roasted malt and spices. Similar to aroma, flavour has a great blend of coffee, cocoa, hops and roasted malt. Body is light and creamy with a lightly bitter aftertaste -- as it warms up it gets more bitter. A huge surprise, this is a fantastic beer and it’s wonderful on cask.
