Commercial Description:
Blue Point Octoberfest is another palate-pleasing seasonal brew. Originally brewed in 1810 to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, Blue Point continues the celebration by traditionally brewing this special malty amber lager every October. Octoberfest lager is stored cold for 2 months to ensure its distinct smooth flavor. Tap a pint and celebrate the season!

Pre-release sample from BP. This light orange to gold beer looked great as we poured this into tasting glasses. This lightly spiced beer reminded me of a wheat or wiezen style as its slight sudsy head seemed to have milky texture. I found this very enjoyable to drink and I hope to see this on tap too.

This beer grew on me more and more as I drank it..Very drinkable. Good malt flavor, not overpowering hops. Very even palate. Could drink these all night.

Smells somewhat yeasty, crisp and very inviting. Mild sweetness predominates, and it is a well-balanced, fall beer. Beautiful amber color, nice frothy head, but it doesn't last all that long. Something very caramel about this.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a mug. There appears to be no freshness date on the label. Appearance: The body has a deep golden to light amber color with very good clarity and lots of carbonation. Its head is just off white in color and fades down quickly to just a wispy thin layer which makes very little lacing. Smell: In the nose there are notes of pale light malt, biscuits and a very light touch of herbal/floral hops. There is also a light sweetness and something that reminds me of smartlys candy. Taste/Palate: It has a base of light roasted malt, grain and some biscuity flavors with mild sweetness. Hop flavor is light, mostly floral with some leafy and citrus notes on the finish. The finish also has the mildly sweet malt turning dry and crisp with more of a raw grain and husk character. The body has a light to medium feel and its carbonation is quite lively and a bit fizzy on the palate. Notes: The head retention was a bit of a let down for me but it was still a tasty Oktoberfest style beer. It was a little bit lighter in color and body than most but it was very drinkable.

Amber pour, thin head, hints of grain and fruit, just enough hops for balance. An Oktoberfest I will be enjoying again.

Bottle from SL. Pour was straw golden to light amber in color with a nice pilsner-like head and lacing all the way down. The aroma was pilsy malts, grassy hops, honey, biscuity malts. The flavor followed, some caramel in there, but really a nice ofest-pilsnery type interpretation of the ofest style. Good strong hops presence over all the grainy and malty bigness. Mouthfeel was moderate, clean, especially for the flavor. Nice job!

Roasted amber color with a smallish head. Sweet malty aroma and a small head. Taste was a mild chocolate to go along with a sweet hoppy caramel thing. Tastes a bit more like a hopped up Amber than a Marzen. Also got some roasted wood chips.

This was a nice surprise. Poured amber with a sizable white head. The head dissapated pretty quickly. Smell was malty with caramel and courant. Very sweet taste. Sweeter then I am accustomed to. This was a good Oktoberfest.
