Commercial Description:
Blue Point Octoberfest is another palate-pleasing seasonal brew. Originally brewed in 1810 to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, Blue Point continues the celebration by traditionally brewing this special malty amber lager every October. Octoberfest lager is stored cold for 2 months to ensure its distinct smooth flavor. Tap a pint and celebrate the season!

Bottle from SL. Pour was straw golden to light amber in color with a nice pilsner-like head and lacing all the way down. The aroma was pilsy malts, grassy hops, honey, biscuity malts. The flavor followed, some caramel in there, but really a nice ofest-pilsnery type interpretation of the ofest style. Good strong hops presence over all the grainy and malty bigness. Mouthfeel was moderate, clean, especially for the flavor. Nice job!

Bottle from a friend. Caramel in color with tan foamy head. Smells a bit sweet and bready. Taste is more on the sweeter malt side, very little hops present. Ok.

12oz bottle pours a crystal clear slightly copper orange with a frothy, active white head. Crisp, malty aroma, dry crackers, biscuit, a little vegetal. Flavor is classic octoberfest, malty, sweet, caramel, honey, crackers. Wet finish. Sessionable, nice.

12 oz bottle, pours a clear orange-amber color with moderate head. Aroma is malty and sweet, some pumpkin noted. Flavor reflects the aroma with sweetness, maltiness, but with a little bitter especially at the beginning of the drink. Palate is moderately rough and full. Decent marzen, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Bottle: another yummy oktoberfest beer. I can’t get enough of these thirst-quenching delights. Even a middle of the road Oktoberfest, like this Blue Point, is music to my tastebuds. Deliciously malty and bready. Head retention is a bit disappointing and the body a bit thin. But still a clean-tasting, refreshing beer. Finishes with nice, light hops.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 11/8/09

Aroma: The nose is mostly malty, fairly mild, some caramel too
Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a frothy white head
Flavor: A pretty average, typical of the style, malty and bready flavor
Palate: Light body, watery mouthfeel, drinkable, not much else
Overall Impression: This is a fairly boring brew, not bad, just not very exciting. Nothing very exciting going on here, not much else to say, it just is what it is. An adventure-less attempt at the Oktoberfest style.

**Just submitted a Photo for this one as well, as it was missing one.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear gold color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is mild with light hints of caramel. Flavor is bitter and slightly malty at the beginning with a dry and lightly toasted malt middle. Finishes with a bitter and lightly flowery aftertaste.
