Aroma of sweet malts, some molasses and toffee. Flavor is up front but its a bit boozy and some astringency creeps in. Medium to full bodied, kind of hot. Nice beer but this one needs a bit of time to smooth out the rough edges. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Reddiah-amber with a tight of-white head. Aroma has a very nice mixture of sweet and smoky notes. Flavour is like a peaty single malt, with some lingering caramel/butterscotch notes, and a dry finish. Quite a nice beer. alobar (1032), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2005 I don’t know what possessed me to spend $17 on this one, must have been that cool looking label. 2000 Vintage with the thickest wax I’ve ever seen Took at least 5 minutes to dig through! Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, dark cherries, light alcohol and somewhat vinous. Very nice aroma. Tastes a little bit of a let down any showed signs of its age with tastes of caramel, fruits, alcohol and wine (all on the weaker side). IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2005 2000 vintage at the Yeha. Poured a cloudy amber with a white head. Strong aroma of caramel, citrus fruits and some alcohol. Taste is some fruit and caramel with a dash of cinnamon, leading to a dry yeasty finish. Flavor could have been a tad more pronounced but a nice barley wine. DYCSoccer17 (2200), Davis, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2005 Bottle at Rich’s 2005 YeHa. I do not recall who brought this vintage 2000 bottle, but thank you. Vinous, fruity, nice barelywine-like aroma with a slight candy sweetness present in the nose. Mildly hazy copper colored body with a smallish yellow/tan head. Sweet, caramelly toffee-like start which then turns more vinous in the middle. Finishes with a minute bitterness. The hops have faded, which isn’t a bad thing. Could use a bit more of the sweeter malts. Body is a bit dry for my liking. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
