Aroma is very bitter and full of roasted malts and some coffee. Some hops, but mostly malts. Flavor has lots of roasted coffee and the slightest hint of chocolate malts. Good roasty and bitter flavor and a nice and bitter coffee finish. Really nice. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2006 On tap at the brewery...A very malty, very roasty porter. It looks decent, as expected, with a rich dark brown body, smallish tan head. Only slighlty bitter hops in the aroma, but many more so in the flavor. It is smooth and creamy, overall quite mild and very easy to drink. I wish they had had it on cask this weekend, but no such luck. rugbydude05 (300), Kew Gardens, New York, USA

Aroma is very sweet with roasted nuts and coffee (more like toffee). Taste is much less sweet than the aroma and is rather bitter. Palate is rough but the flavor does fill up the palate. Tough to warm up to at first but as the drink wears on its becomes very good. beastiefan2k (1603), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2006 Sample at Brewery tasting room. Pours very black with a large frothy head. Just a tad of brown translucence but otherwise no clarity. Aroma is slightly roasty with a small hop presence. Flavor is a soapy mess with hints of chocolate and roasty flavors. Seems promising but maybe too young right now. JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2006 Tap at Barcade. Thick tan head over a dark ruby-tinted beer. Aroma is fairly sweet and caramelly with plenty of cherry fruitiness as well. Flavour shows some smokiness, sweet t/cherry fruit and some light caramel/toasty flavours as well. The Blue Point house character is very much in evidence here but it’s well integrated with the other toasted/roasted malts Flavour is not roasty, but shows lots of toasted dark malts and a hint of chocolate. Some lightly herbal hop character. A pretty tasty porter. KnutAlbert (3185), Oslo, Norway

Smooth, some dry cocoa and coffee, but quite subdued.
A pleasant session beer, but it hardly stands out. crushinat0r (227), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2003 Cask conditioned at NYC's Blind Tiger Ale House: roasty and somewhat thin, like a schwarzbier. Porters are always hybrids - not quite a stout, not quite a bitter dunkel. I thought this had significant bitterness in both the body and aftertaste with a nice roasty touch.
