oh6gdx (8801), Vasa, Finland Oct 29, 2009 Draught@Akkurat, Stockholm. Black colour, big creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, coffee, some smoked wet wood as well as some mild notes of cherries. Flavour is quite much the same and also has some liquorice and tarry notes in addition. Cherries barely show in this brew. mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Oct 25, 2009 (Cask) Almost black colur with very small tan coloured head. Aroma contained roastedness and liquorice. Medium bodied palate with very low carbonation. There were roastedness, liquorice, sourness, berries, ash and bitterness in taste. Aftertaste was mainly ashy. Good beer although the cherries were quite well hidden. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 17, 2009 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 16 Oct 2009) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, smoke and tar. Roasted, malty taste with some smoke, tar, chocolate, dark fruit and hints of cherries. Well balanced finish with moderate bitterness and a touch of sweetness. Full body. Overall more smoke and tar than cherries. Very nice beer. ManvsCity (88), Redmond, Washington, USA Oct 16, 2009 On cask at The Ginge Man. It pours a frothy head that requires the barmaid to use two glasses. Aroma of cherries and oak, but faint. Black, non-oily body leaves little lacing and no film on the glass. Walnut, malt, and oak flavors. Not sure why this is classified as an Imperial IPA, it’s as thin as most normal stouts. . The cherry is more of an aftertaste. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 9, 2009 Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Almost black, rich creamy head. Tarry nose with fruity black currant. Sweet and very full bodied, soft with amounts of roasty malt coming across as tar and licorice. The sour cherries are subtle in comparison, making this a harmonious despite the somewhat crazy concept. Perhaps the overt sweetness disturbs a little bit in the finish. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Sep 16, 2009 Dark pour, thin head. Aroma has roasted malts and sour cherry essence, not too sour. Flavor is sweet with with roasted malts, molasses and sour cherries, finishes a bit sour. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Aug 30, 2009 Gravity pour at Gingerman. Pours dark brown with a thin ring of bubbles. Smells of roasted malt and cherries. Tastes roasty and sour with cherries dominating a velvety malt character. j12601 (1151), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA May 21, 2009 On tap at the Golden Rail. Pours a deep dark black with a thick tan head. Nice roast, with just a hint of cherry. Light body and a bit sweet. Light hint of grain and metal. Finishes with a nice long bitterness. Not much cherry going on, and it’s barely noticeable on the nose, and not present anywhere else. Otherwise an ok stout though.
