Flavor has some coffee, roasted malt, mild darker fruits, cocoa. Struggled to find the sour cherries. Good, well balanced stout. tgncc (845), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2008 The aroma is not especially strong, but is heavily sour cherry, roasted coffee, chocloate. The appearance is a very attractive dark browmn, with a hint od dark red. The flavor is like the aroma: chocolatey, roasty, with a slight note of sour cherries. The plate leaves a pleasing sour cherry flavor (this is where the cherries are strongest). Very good stout overall. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a black color with a touch of purple/red at the edges and almost no head at all. The aroma was sour cherry, a touch of malt and a hint of molasses. The flavor was an intriguing mix of roasty malts and tangy cherry with a malty and sour middle and a long light cherry finish. Very interesting. LinusStick (1852), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 10, 2008 On tap at Bocktown. Blah. I wasn’t expecting much and this is right where I was expecting. Aroma was almost nil. Could pick up some slight cherry but not much. Pour was a nice enough deep dark brown with a red hue and a nice 1 finger tan head. Taste was like cherry cough syrup. Not very sour as the name suggests, just a little medicinal with just a hint of roasted malt. Not very carbonated and hard to drink. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Aroma first primarily of charred malt, but a more gentle roasted character and sweetness appears eventually. Flavor quite sweet, but only borderline cherry flavor at best, and certainly nothing sour. Not bad, but unimpressive. LilBeerDoctor (1531), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt, parmesean cheese, faint sweet medicinal cherries, and nuts. A bit heavy with a roasty finish. Not bad, actually, and much tastier than the regular stout. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA
