The aroma and flavor are of roasted malt, some dry cherries, a little sweet, some chocolate, and a bit of etoh. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2008 poured black with a tan head, that left some lacing on the glass. aroma was roasty with some sourness in the back. flavor was very ashy, with some roast and the cherry coming out very nicely and tartly towards the end of the glass. I truly enjoyed the cherry, but the imperial stout was lacking. too much ash, not enough espresso, roast, port, or other imperial stout flavors that I like. full mouth feel. an okay beer. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2008 on cask at TAP NY 08. Dark brown, almost black with some ruby highlights at the bottom of the glass- as this is called an imperial stout I gotta ding the appearance a point as it should be opaque. Aroma of roast, alot of chocolate, the cherry is there but way in the background, quite subtle. Taste is alot of chocolate malt, a moderate amount of roast, with some subtle cherry in the background, almost hard to find before it warmed up a bit. Moderately sweet with molasses, medium bodied, with some alcohol showing through in the finish. Overall this was good, I enjoyed it. MullMan (1087), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 on tap at CB Six, midtown NYC. blackish brown body, ruby-brown edges. thin creamy medium ruddy tan head. aroma of roasted malt, a little nutty, and faint cherry extract. flavor is roasted malt, a bit sour/dry/bitter but not hoppy. not really any cherry flavor at all. nice to have during happy hour with coworker friends, though! | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Draft. A dark black with a smallish head. Tastes like beer with syrup added, and not good beer at that. Blue Point might be the most overrated brewery in the universe. DirtyMartini (194), Los Angeles, Alabama, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Jan 15, 2008 i dont know whether they used actual cherries or a cherry extract...but the blend of the stout characteristics with the cherries gave me a strong flavor of cough syrup. i barely want to drink that when im sick, let alone pay for it. i didnt even finish half of the beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Draft. Dark black with maroon hue in color. Limited head. Weak, mashed berry, cherry hints in aroma then run rough-shod over by the warm alcohol numbness that assaults the roof of the mouth. A milky, malty flavoring does everntually break through but too late to impress. Tasting leaves me with the impression of three very good things cobbled together in a clunky way. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Deep black coloured body, fully opaque colour with a thinnish light brown head. Aroma of nice fresh cherries, roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malt flavours throughout, tucked into a sweet and sour cherry flavour showing more nuts and raisins. Aftertaste has some subtle toffee and vanilla flavours, along with a very light oakyness. Overall, a good beer - I thought it was the best Blue Point beer to date! I sampled this beer on draught at Blind Tiger in New York, New York on 09-December-2007.
