This drinks more like an imperial porter. I don’t really taste any of the cherries, at least no more so than you get dark fruit in some stouts/porters. Dry finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Updated: Dec 2, 2007On tap at Halftime. Pours opaque black with thin brown head that dissipated into brown bubbles along the outsides. SImple yet pleasing nose; coffee, sweet chocolates, maraschino cherries. Flavor is of roasted coffees and malts. Some chocolate carries through with a nice tart balance to the bitterness of an Imp. Stout. Unfortunately, the cherries are lost somewhere within this brew but they definitely altered its characteristics. Nice and thick mouth feel with a somewhat drying finish and warm alcohol presence.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2007 Draft. This stout has a great balance of coffee, cocoa, and cherry flavor. The fruitiness of the cherry is an awesome accent to a full Imp. stout. It has a full, oily mouthfeel that finishes smooth and creamy with a warm alcohol presence. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Draught at Waterfront, Bkyln. Dark brown/black pour with a moderate head leaving spots of lacing. Sweet, almost kahlua-like coffee aroma. Flavor of dark roast coffee malts with a bit of charred leaf roastiness/smokiness, but generally more sweetness in the balance than I like from an Imp. Stout. Needs either more charred flavor (patent?) or hops. There was really no discernable cherry flavor whatsoever. I might have detected a faint note, but never would have picked it up if I weren’t looking for it. Full bodied; a bit syrupy. Some actual sour cherry flavors or off-setting bitterness would have been more than welcome here. Otherwise, it just comes across as a one-dimensional sweet stout. Not terrible, but personally disappointing.

The flavor is the same, dominated by the roasted coffee malt flavors. The cherry is somewhat subtle, which is good. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA
