Tarry nose with fruity black currant. Sweet and very full bodied, soft with amounts of roasty malt coming across as tar and licorice. The sour cherries are subtle in comparison, making this a harmonious despite the somewhat crazy concept. Perhaps the overt sweetness disturbs a little bit in the finish. oh6gdx (9126), Vasa, Finland

Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, coffee, some smoked wet wood as well as some mild notes of cherries. Flavour is quite much the same and also has some liquorice and tarry notes in addition. Cherries barely show in this brew. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

clear dark brown, whispy brown head, nice lace, roasted aroma with light cherry character, creamy body, rich roasted and chocolate flavor balanced by some light cherry flavor and tartness, the roasted fades leaving a great interplay between the chocolate and the cherry

Has a sweet cherry fruity aroma along with some roasty malt and dark chocolate. Body starts lightly caramely sweet revealing some semi-tart fruity cherries toward a complex, balanced finish. A good, unique brew. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Tap at the brewery. Pitch black with a thick tan-coloured head. Very toasty aroma with strong roasty notes. Charcoaly roasted grain. Flavour is pretty solid, heavy roasty notes all the way through, light sour cherry in the middle that is quickly dissipated by the roastiness that lingers all the way through the finish. Light peppery character. Medium bodies and could probably use a bit more crystal sweetness throughout the brew, but its a good attempt.
