It pours a frothy head that requires the barmaid to use two glasses. Aroma of cherries and oak, but faint. Black, non-oily body leaves little lacing and no film on the glass. Walnut, malt, and oak flavors. Not sure why this is classified as an Imperial IPA, it’s as thin as most normal stouts. . The cherry is more of an aftertaste.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2009 On tap @ McGrath’s. Pours a deep, dark black with a small tan head. Sweet, malty cherry aroma, like a flat, old fashioned soda. Sour up front, but not a sour like a good lambic. Good carbonation bite with a sweet and smooth cherry/malty finish. Not bad, once you get past the odd sourness. oh6gdx (9126), Vasa, Finland

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Almost black, rich creamy head. Tarry nose with fruity black currant. Sweet and very full bodied, soft with amounts of roasty malt coming across as tar and licorice. The sour cherries are subtle in comparison, making this a harmonious despite the somewhat crazy concept. Perhaps the overt sweetness disturbs a little bit in the finish. yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
