Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Summer Ale has a delicious golden taste. In addition to traditional barley malt; a substantial portion of wheat malt is added to the mix giving this brew a unique tartness that's not found in many beers today. A small amount of lemon is added with one other "special" ingredient that all combine together to produce a light, thirst-quenching, citrus flavor microbrew enjoyed by all on a hot, Long Island Summer day.

Clear light gold with a thin white head. Lightly grassy nose, lemony and biscuit. Mild flavor, biscuity bready and lemony. Light and boring...it is what it is...

Yeasty hay aroma. Clear yellow, thin white head. Tastes mainly of wheat malt. with a lemony edge. Hopless and hellesish. Refreshing, but leaves you feeling incomplete. Add some cascade hops and you might have a decent beer.

bottle: pours a light amber with thick white head. Lemon-grassy nose. Light body and medium carbonation. Has grassy-lemony flavor, but there’s not much to it. Nice light beer, no "wow" factor.. about what you’d expect from Blue Point.

On tap. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a thin, white head with very little retention or lacing. Aroma of cereal grains, grass, lemon zest. Taste is biscuity malt, lemongrass, slight citrus, wheat. Finish is very metallic. Watery on the palate. Light, biscuit malt body. Meh.

Pale gold appearance with an average size white head and modest lacing. Subdued, sweet malt and lemon grass aroma. Slightly tart taste is balanced by the sweetness from the wheat. Light-bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a short lived finish.

Poured with the appearance of a light body and thin head. The beer was very easy to drink with subtle notes of lemony citrus flavors. i enjoyed it enough to have a couple more. But I am still searching for a great summer ale.

Location: Purchased at supermarket in NYC. Summer ’08.

Aroma: Typical of a sweet, wheat
Appearance: Light, thin head
Flavor: Lemon, acidic, sweet
Palate: Fizzy and watery, light body
Overall Impression: Overall it’s a kinda boring summer ale, light, but not terrible
