Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Summer Ale has a delicious golden taste. In addition to traditional barley malt; a substantial portion of wheat malt is added to the mix giving this brew a unique tartness that's not found in many beers today. A small amount of lemon is added with one other "special" ingredient that all combine together to produce a light, thirst-quenching, citrus flavor microbrew enjoyed by all on a hot, Long Island Summer day.

Bottle. Pours a light yellow with a thin, fizzy head. Weak nose of wheat and some mild citrus. Flavor is light and crisp, some hints lemony and tartness, along with some metallic notes. Very light body, very bubbly and, as I said, crisp. Nothing special but probably refreshing on a hot day. (I drank it in late November.)

Found a single bottle of this leftover from trying it over the summer. Pours a clear yellowish-orange color with a small white head that comes and goes fast. Aroma is citrus, floral, hops, and apricots. This beer has tart lemon-y type taste to it, and the finish to me is kind of reminiscent of Dogfish’ Festian Peche. Very light body and thin texture. Nothing too extravagant but I could definitely be "quaffed" on a hot summer day

12oz bottle. Poured a clear golden yellow with a nice white head. Smell of citrus hops and malt. Slight malt flavor with the right balance of hops to dry it up making for a very clean and crisp finish.

Sampled on tap at Blue Point in Patchogue. Admittedly I tried this the 2nd weekend of October. Pours a clear gold with zero head. Great. Aroma is grassy with some hay and some sweetness. Flavor is a bit off, almost stale, sweet but flat. Finish is watery. Forgettable and bordering on hard to drink. This might have been great on June 1st, but on October 10th this was fatally flawed.

Draught sample. Pours gold with a white head. Smells of sweet caramel malt, some light citrussy hints. Tastes of citrus, caramel, grassy, some perfumy hints on the finish.

How does something taste "golden"? Questions aside, this 12 oz. bottle pours a thin, golden color with a thin, filmy head. Aroma of sweet wheat and something mildly fruity-sweet...honeysuckle-ish or apricot-ty? Simple in taste with lemony front palate, bread-like middle and faint hops finish. A drinkable and pleasant-enough beer that would be an easy introduction (albeit not exactly ’good’) to craft brews. Thin body and not much to write home about. I happened to be drinking this while eating orzo pasta salad, and it was totally overpowered by the salad’s flavor. A few steps above a Corona on a hot summer day.
