Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Toasted Lager is our flagship product. Copper in color this brew is made from Six different malts including: English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager displays a balanced flavor of malt and hop which makes it easy drinking. Special lager yeast is used to produce that long lasting, smooth finish. The "toasted" part of the name refers to our direct-fire brew kettle; hot flames imparts a toasted flavor to our most popular microbrew.

Bottle. A slightly old bottle, so I’ll give them a little benefit of the doubt. Slight roasted malt aroma. Roasted, malty flavor with a little hop bitterness. Poured orange with a decent sized head. Easy drinking, nothing spectacular but a solid brew.

This is a good beer. It is a nice amber beer that has a strong malt taste. I find it to be simular to a Youngling lager. It is a good session beer and can be consumed at any time of the year.

Orange yellow color with no head. Aroma of malts, hops, and some caramel. Taste is sweet-caramel, malts with some hoppy bitterness. "Easy drinking" for sure.

I’m going to be kinder than some other reviewers and call out the key phrase from the commercial description: "easy drinking." This is not an aggressive brew, and sometimes, on a muggy summer afternoon like this one in DC, "easy drinking" fills the bill. I do wish they hadn’t called it "toasted," as there’s not much there in the toasted department, but otherwise, this is a pretty solidly pleasant, lightly sweet, lightly alcoholic, and very lightly hopped beer. Not a special occasion drink by any stretch, and the fact that it ran me $13 for a six made me expect more. But on its own merits, it’s a fine summer afternoon kickback.

(Bottle). Mild aroma of caramel and malt. Nice amber color with thick beige head. Flavor is mild, with some malty sweetness and a pleasant bitter finish. Refreshing, but somewhat pedestrian beer.

Smell is very faint sweet malts and bitter hops. Mostly nothing really. Taste is pleasantly malty with some hop notes. Maybe a little skunked, but not terrible.

On tap at Stouts NYC. Deep amber pour with a healthy off white head. Sweet caramel aroma and flavor. I was hoping for a little more of a toasted flavor given the name, but its very subtle. Still a quality, crisp amber lager, in fact I thought the waitress screwed up and gave me a yuengling, the taste and color are pretty much dead on, but after a few sips you can tell this one is a little higher quality.

Light clear amber, disappearing head. Very malty aroma with a dash of nuttines. Unremarkable Palate. Very malty flavor with light toastiness, no trace of hops, not enough bitterness very mellow, not much to it. Finishes with a little twist of lemon. Easily drinkable, but not very interesting.
