Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Toasted Lager is our flagship product. Copper in color this brew is made from Six different malts including: English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager displays a balanced flavor of malt and hop which makes it easy drinking. Special lager yeast is used to produce that long lasting, smooth finish. The "toasted" part of the name refers to our direct-fire brew kettle; hot flames imparts a toasted flavor to our most popular microbrew.

From bottle. Pours golden with a good sized head. Lots of carbonation makes for a good mouth feel. Aroma is mostly aweet buscuit like malt with a hint of roast. Flavor is less than I ahd expected and was kind of bland. Not bad by any means, but really nothing special.

12 oz bottle purchased at EZ Liquors. Pours a really great looking rusty orange, slightly thin, with an average size frothy whtie head. Malt forward aroma, dry toast, caramel. Flavor is very similiar and not overly complex, just basic malts with a slightly bitter finish. Nothing was wrong with this beer by any means but for some reason it just wasn’t doing it for me.

Bottle, best by 10/08. Aroma is indeed quite toasty, crackery, but also has a sweet caramel aspect. Flavor goes along with these ever interchanging malty notes, simple yet subtly complex (too much so for my still developing palate to nail down). Just a hint of spicy bitterness in the finish. Sweet and malty without ever being too sweet, and even more surprisingly, without ever taking on too much of a heavy body for a beer designed for refreshment. Stellar.

Bottle, best by 10/2008. Pours a dark orange with a small light tan head. Wow, quite toasty! Smells like an altbier. Also I get some cinnamon. Flavor of nice toasted and sweet malt. Well it lives up to its name! Smooth light palate. Wow, this beer is so underrated!!

12 oz. bottle. Since our move, I’m using plastic cups until our kitchen ware can be unpacked. So this didn’t have much chance to kick up a head, but I can see a nice, warm Vienna color and some big bubbles, suggesting a forced carbonation (but that can make the beer work sometimes). Yes, a toasted malt smell; I get an English impression before anything else. Taste is just dandy. Toasted indeed (and using the same method as the old Stroh’s, but to a far better result). Complex malt profile with some spiciness, a bit of a yeast bite. Those big bubbles help deliver more of the flavor around the tongue. If I were out on Lawngylan,’ I’d be pleased to have this as my regular beer.

Surprisingly flavorful for a lager. Good malt backbone, clean and crisp finish, and there were hops in there too. Good lager.

After it was dumped into a lager glass it foamed right up leaving a massive head and a cloudy amber color. The nose is very bland with some hints of toasted malt and a slight hop bitterness. The flavor is very light and has a lot of carbonation. You can really taste the light malts used as well as the toasted grains. Overall it is a refreshing beer and can be drank at any time.

Bottle. Pours golden, with a little hops aroma. Crisp taste with some hops. Not bad.
