Commercial Description:
Blue Point Brewing's Toasted Lager is our flagship product. Copper in color this brew is made from Six different malts including: English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager displays a balanced flavor of malt and hop which makes it easy drinking. Special lager yeast is used to produce that long lasting, smooth finish. The "toasted" part of the name refers to our direct-fire brew kettle; hot flames imparts a toasted flavor to our most popular microbrew.

This was a really nice deep brown color for a lager. The toasted name seems to give it a long, smooth, and rich after taste that separates this from other lagers for me. You could definitely put down a few of these in one evening, espeically up in Long Island.

Draft: Pours a copper color with white foamy head. Has a toasted smell and a dry finish. A bit of a bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Light amber body, small white head, nose like a helles. Bitter, some vegetal notes. Yuck.

Bottle. Pours a dark golden body with brown hues. Aroma is toasted malt, some hop character, and some spiciness. The malt flavor does come through in a toasty nutty way. interesting but not for me.

THOUGHTS: I’m really behind on inputting my ratings. I had this one for the Super Bowl. It reminded me more of an ESB than a lager. Not great, but different than most lagers I’ve tried. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark yellow to light orange with a small, slightly off-white head that kept a thin sheet and left fair lacing. The aroma was moderate toasted and caramel malt and light to moderate grass hops. The initial flavor was lightly acidic and bitter; while the finish was lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and slightly sour with an average duration. The flavor was toasted malt then some grassy hops followed by a little sweet malt and a touch of sourness. The light to medium body was somewhat dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic and light to moderate astringent finish.

The pour reveals an orange amber color with a thick, bubbly white head. Pleasant aroma of toasted malt and caramel. The flavor is quite good and sharp, there’s a definite toasted malt character along with some shy caramel, the malt feels also astringent, husky as they say. The body is medium with a creamy texture and medium to lively carbonation. This is a very interesting vienna but it would be even better if the astringent feeling would be toned down a bit.

Big foamy head... amber body. Nice toasted smell... malty, a little winy smell in there too I think. Tastes pretty nice. Not as sweet as many other viennas. A little sour close to the finish. Slightly metallic aftertaste.

Free sample at Mo’s in Fairfield. Good beer, little bit of a dry finish. Noticable use of hops, and nuts. . A little bigger than your run of the mill lager.
