Crisp and bright on the pour, with a lively mouthfeel. It’s got a nice, vibrant malt profile - a trace nutty, with a very smooth body - and a dry, almost spiced finish (that must come from the toasting). HighlanderOne (547), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA

Has that toasted, maybe a bit burnt, malt flavor with hops in the aftertaste. Has a dry bite to it at first feel, but has a somewhat creamy back feel. Mellows at finish. A bit odd, but not bad. lokidoki13 (2), West Boylston, Massachusetts, USA does not count | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 16, 2008 Aroma was exceptionally pleasant and the color was nice, typical of most ambers with a off-white head. However, the taste left a little to be desired. The mouthfeel was a tad watery and the flavor did not fully live up to the nose. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Poured clear amber with little white head. Strong aroma of caramel and butterscoth. Good smell. Really disappointed that the flavor wasn’t what the aroma was. Very watery with some sweet flavor. Ghett0Gary (23), Belmar, New Jersey, USA

Smells malty and can get a hint of the results of fire brewing. Believed a changed recipe, once having more flavor and body. Overall, an average amber lager CharlesDarwin (1867), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2008 12oz Bottle. Light toast, sauna, and caramel aroma. Pours in glowing copper with a sparse rim in tinted cream. Nice rich, full-flavor complex caramelized sugar, bread crust, dessert-like crackers, and percolating alcohols. Bright, fresh and soothing. Some failing yeastiness and lager qualities, but it doesn’t detract too much. Distant hop quench. Enjoyable.
