Kinda pleasant chocolatey, roasty, slightly caramel, indistinct and less than memorable "winter" type brew, with a less than appealing aroma. Not the best thing they make, for sure.BUY AGAIN? Probably not lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 19, 2007 Sampled at D’s. Dark copper color. Aroma of dark fruits and slightly roasty. Flavor of pears, plums and is a little biscuity. Slightly strange bubble gummy taste and bitter finish. Braudog (3782), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Cask at KClinger’s. Deep, dark red with an ice-creamy, frothy head. Has that silky cas feel. Oddly bitter, almost like an unripe pear. Bit of a caramel nectar as a base, but the woody bitterness doesn’t match well. (#2652, 1/14/07) rudolf (1787), Buffalo, New York, USA

Flavor is rich caramel, xmas cake, decent bitterness. A bit of bread in the finish. Very English. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 8, 2006 Bottle from shadey. Standard transparent amber, decnt beige head. Aroma is all spice up front, faint residuel sugar/caramel background. Flavor much the same, spice up front, caramel, and some musty hops in the finish. Probably a decent session beer. pineypower (1108), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2006 Pours out a clear dark amber color with a small wispy white head. Aroma is nor very powerful, but there are some notes of spice. Notes of caramel, nutmeg, chocolate and some fruit. Some slight bitterness on the finish. Interesting beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 2, 2006 Pours a clear amber with a tan film for head. The aroma is surpsingly fresh, with an orangey hop zest. Nice overall hop flavors as well. The body is a drop thin, but the flavor is full, an orangey citrus, spicy peppery aspect, hint of nutmeg, nice caramel malt undertone and a solid dry finish. Not bad.
