Blue Point Brewing's Winter Ale is a hearty and robust amber ale. Brewed to chase away the chill of a cool winter night. Made with Pale, Vienna, crystal and chocolate malt. This uncommon amber is only brewed during the cold months of the year. Winter Ale is an extremely popular seasonal specialty. Enjoy the tasty balance of malt and hops. Remember this special ale leaves with Winter.

Bottle. Appearance: Coppery red. Thick, long lasting beige head. Aroma: Caramelized malt. Palate: Medium. Flavor: Roasted malt, light caramel, come light hops is noticeable, bready sweetness. Overall: Good malt presence, with just enough hops to balance. Easy beer to drink.

Deep amber color with thin white head. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Flavor was caramel malts, some toffee, and roasted grains. Sweet, but with a slightly dry finish. Not bad for an amber ale, but not quite a winter ale.

On tap at Shagwong’s - Montauk, NY. Nose comes as soft salted caramel, weather cedar, and iced tea. Pours plain deep copper, with a rim of off-white. Flavor constructs heavy caramelization through oat bin. Reused oolong and salted cod feel out the depths of this beer. Too much crystal, it dominates the profile. There are some nice coffees, toffees and chocolate, but they’re rather diminished. Hops non-existant. Alcohol feels high for 4.5% and carries a signature of yeast and minerals. Pretty decent for the style.

Pours a coppery orange with a decent sized head. Aroma is malty with a touch of hoppiness. taste is an OKish blend of malts, some choc/caramel, and a bit of hops. One of the better blue point’s I have had.

Bright orange copper color with a modest somewhat diminishing ecru head. Aromas of fresh dough, a quick hint of citrus, mild caramel and a touch of apricot. A rose by any other name, just as an amber. Light caramel and toasted malt flavors in the front. Some zest, earth, herbal and woody bitterness in the middle that follows through into the finish and linger.

I loved this beer. It had a beautiful deep amber body and a nice hoppy flavor.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted beyond mid-glass. Pleasant aroma of caramel malt. The flavor is rich with caramel malt and just enough hops at the finish to keep this from being too sticky. A bit on the sweet side. I pounded down this glass pretty quickly and enjoyed it. A good session beer.

Brightly dark ruby brown color that is brilliantly bold to view through. Capping is smallish and creamy tight of a light sandy tan hue. Keeps a firm skim present the whole consumption period. Packed in spotty lacing is stitched across the glass with good sticking power. Aroma is soft of cocoa powdered fluff with a bit of whole grain breadyness thats a titch on the sweetened doughy side. Taste is firm and round of some soft brown bread dough sweetness, some cocoa hints, perhaps a drip of maple. Semi soft and drying hoppy finish that’s fresh and green with a hint of grass and grain. Feel is about medium with fairly solid tone and firm carbonation that keeps a nice tight tang and smallish bite of action adding to the overall flavors. A nice drinking Winter ale (Red/Brown ale) thats soft, firm, and just tasty enough.
