More malty than most called ESB. Bready flavors dominating and framed by dark fruit malts. Pleasant and well made. Duffbeer (192), Pennsylvania, USA

Same beer as Crooked River ESB. Same facilities, same ingredients, same recipe, slightly different bottle and different label. The aroma is moderately malty and hoppy. Strong nose, alcohol and cocoa come through. The color is a perfect, sparkling copper. The flavor is heavily malty with milk chocolate notes (yum) and pretty well hopped. Almost perfectly balanced, although just a hair on the bitter side of the fence. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation. The finish is crisp, lightly bitter and dry. Excellent, malty brew. World class!

Mostly harmless with a bitter hint rising in the aftertaste. Bark of this beer is worse than its bite. Not entirelly a pleasant experience. snyderceo (7), Cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 2, 2002 This product has been dramatically improved. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 6, 2002 Clear red, extremely small white head. Awesome aroma: very sweet and sugary with hints of licorice. Very ’bready’ flavor, reminded me of gingerbread; yeasty as well as hoppy. Immediate aftertaste is moderately hoppy. Nice. My first from Blue Ridge. SirHopsAlot (44), Cockeysville, Maryland, USA

The beer had nice fruit driven hops and good malt. I have had the beer in the past and it was only OK. But Blue Ridge is really making some great strides in the recent past. I hope they keep up the good work. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
