Commercial Description:
The national drink of England is an ale called "Bitter," designated as "Ordinary," "Best" and "Extra Special Bitter," or ESB, depending on its body and strength. Our version is coppery red and medium-bodied. Its tangy hop character is nicely balanced by the biscuit-like flavor of specially roasted barley malt.

This beer rocks. Same beer as Crooked River ESB. Same facilities, same ingredients, same recipe, slightly different bottle and different label. The aroma is moderately malty and hoppy. Strong nose, alcohol and cocoa come through. The color is a perfect, sparkling copper. The flavor is heavily malty with milk chocolate notes (yum) and pretty well hopped. Almost perfectly balanced, although just a hair on the bitter side of the fence. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation. The finish is crisp, lightly bitter and dry. Excellent, malty brew. World class!

Deep copper colored with significant floral hop and malt tones in the aroma. Thick malt flavor contributes to a caramely full body that finishes with mellow, not overly-assertive hop bitterness. A fine ESB.

Pours amber with a trace of a head. Smells of flowers and pollen. Tastes of nuts and caramel with a bitter finish. Very nice.

This poured an orange-copper with a huge off-white head that settles down but does some serious lacing. Its caramel aroma is nearly covered by strong fruity (apple, pear) scents. Medium-bodied, it delivers a fruity caramel taste well balanced by a solid herbal hop bitterness. Nod bad at all.

Lightly hazed light copper color with a taller fluffy beige head. Heavy caramel aromas with a mild backdrop of floral hops. Hugh diacetyl contributions in the flavor. The front end of this one is really like sucking on a butterscotch lozenge, nearly to the point of being very distracting. Some mild caramel comes in later in the quaff and adds to the thickness and sweetness. Creamy feel, only slightly makes up for the cloying flavors. Unbalanced and sweet, especially for a labeled ESB.

A sort of red ale/ESb hybrid. Pours medium heady with a reddish color. Tastes bitter like an ESB but also with a caramel/toffee sweetness at the finish. Like sweet and sour pork. The first ESB/red hybrid I've had, and a wonderful style. Very nice.
